[su_spacer size=”20″] The University of Georgia is the nation’s No. 1 equestrian team, according to the National Collegiate Equestrian Association Preseason rankings, as determined by the NCEA selection committee.  This marks the fourth-straight year that the Bulldogs have started the season ranked No. 1.

The Bulldogs enter as the preseason No. 1 team after earning the program’s first SEC Championship title in the 2014-15 campaign.  Georgia finished as Reserve Champions at the 2015 NCEA National Championship.

“The high expectations of our peers are no different than our own,” head coach Meghan Boenig said. “We are thrilled with the ranking and work every day to set the standard for all to judge. Our SEC competitors are consistent high performing opponents, they help us perform at our best each day.”

The Southeastern Conference is well represented in the NCEA Preseason Poll, as defending National Champion South Carolina checks in at No. 2, while the SEC runner-up Texas A&M is ranked seventh.  Auburn opens its season ranked fourth.  All but two opponents the Bulldogs will face this season are ranked in the NCEA Preseason Poll.

Georgia kicks off its season Sept. 18 when it hosts its annual Red and Black Scrimmage at 4 p.m., at the UGA Equestrian Complex in Bishop, Ga. The regular-season gets underway Sept. 25 at 10 a.m., when the Bulldogs take on the Aggies of Texas A&M at home in Bishop, Ga.
