Georgia Equestrian No. 2 in Preseason Rankings

Georgia equestrian will enter the 2018-19 season as the second-ranked team in that nation, as announced by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association selection committee on Wednesday.
 
 
Georgia comes in at No. 2, just behind conference rival and defending national champion Auburn University. All four Southeastern Conference teams rank among the nation’s top 10 with Texas A&M selected third and South Carolina checking in at No. 8.
 
 
Georgia enters the season after defending its SEC Champion title and being named the NCEA Reserve Champion. Georgia’s Equitation on the Flat squad won the NCEA Event National Championship as well.
 
 
The Bulldogs return five riders who claimed seven NCEA All-America honors last season and welcome two new assistant coaches to the staff. Former Auburn rider Anna Becker is the Hunt Seat Assistant Coach, responsible for coaching the Equitation Over Fences squad, while former Georgia equestrian standout Sara Parr will be coaching the Western discipline.
The 2018 SEC Championship team will be honored with a ring ceremony at the annual Alumni Tailgate this Saturday, Sept. 15 at 4 p.m. at the Tate Student Center.
 
 
Georgia will host its annual Red and Black scrimmage on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 10 a.m. at the UGA Equestrian Complex before the 2018-19 campaign officially begins on the road at South Carolina. The Bulldogs and Gamecocks will square off on Friday, October 5 in Blythewood, South Carolina.
 
 
The 2019 SEC Championship will be held March 29-30 in College Station, Texas. The season will conclude April 17-20 at the NCEA National Championship in Waco, Texas.
