Molly King, a senior at the University of Georgia majoring in Consumer Journalism with a minor in Communication Studies and in her third year as a student assistant with the UGA Sports Communication office, discusses this year’s theme and motto for the 2017-18 UGA Equestrian team: “Today. Tomorrow. Together.”

“Each year the equestrian team decides on a theme for the season that they translate into a motto. They strive to live by this motto in an effort to set the standard for future teams with a high expectation for achievement. This year they have decided on ‘Today. Tomorrow. Together.’ ”

“Traditionally, the senior class will determine what they want the motto for the season to be based on their overarching goals. This year, the captains decided they wanted to include more than just the senior class and asked for input from the whole team.”

‘We kept emphasizing how we really wanted to incorporate togetherness,” said team captain Sammie Johnson. “We wanted to talk about what we wanted to focus on today, and continue pushing each other, but if things didn’t go so well we needed to focus on the future and move forward.’
