Georgia baseball team juniors Robert Tyler and Stephen Wrenn have been named to the preseason All-Southeastern Conference team as selected by the league coaches.

Tyler and Wrenn have been named to multiple preseason All-America teams. A 6-4, 226-pound right-hander from Cordele, Ga., Tyler draws the Opening Day start Friday against Georgia Southern. First pitch at Foley Field will be at 5 p.m. Wrenn, a 6-2, 185-pound center fielder from Marietta, Ga., will miss the GSU series due to an injury that occurred during last Friday’s scrimmage. He is slated to return next week.

The Bulldog pair was named to the second team while Georgia was picked to finish sixth in the Eastern Division. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their team or student-athletes. Florida and Texas A&M, preseason ranked No. 1 and No. 3 nationally by leading publications, were predicted to win their divisions. League coaches picked Florida as the favorite to win the league, garnering 13 first-place votes with Vanderbilt earning one. The Bulldogs face Florida, Vanderbilt and Texas A&M on the road this season

According to the coaches, the predicted order-of-finish in the East will be Florida, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri, Georgia and Tennessee. In the Western Division, it was the Aggies followed by LSU, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Auburn and Alabama.

The SEC portion of the schedule gets underway March 18 when the Bulldogs welcome Kentucky to Foley Field. Along with the Wildcats, the SEC teams coming to Athens this season will be Alabama, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Tennessee. Georgia’s SEC road trips will be to the Gators, Aggies, Commodores, Mississippi State and Missouri. Last year, Georgia went 26-28 (10-19 SEC) in the second season under Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Scott Stricklin.
