[su_spacer size=”20″] Senior UGA Linebacker, Jake Ganus, a 2015 transfer from UAB, talks about his fellow brothers at inside linebacker and how they handled Georgia’s first scrimmage of Fall Camp on Friday afternoon as well as the competition to be on the special teams’ units.

Jake is asked about true freshman linebacker Roquan Smith and how he performed in his very first scrimmage with the team on Friday:
[su_spacer size=”40″]

I think Roquan did a great job coming in as a freshman. It’s a lot to learn. It’s a lot to take in, but he is a crazy athlete. He’s fast. Kid’s got a bright future. I’m glad I can help him any way I can. I think he’s just going to keep getting better.

[su_spacer size=”40″] Jake was asked his thoughts on Georgia’s inside line backing corps and if the Dawgs had a good mix of skill sets at that position:
[su_spacer size=”40″]

I think we do. We got Natrez. A big guy; big and fast. We got Roquan who is just speed. Then you got me, Reggie, Tim; who are kind of older guys. We bring different things to it. I think we’ve got a pretty good mix in that inside linebacker group.

[su_spacer size=”40″] The senior linebacker is asked about freshman ILB Nick Moore and if he got any reps:
[su_spacer size=”40″]

Yeah. He did. I think he did good … I know Nick, Tim and Juwan Taylor, I think they all had a good day. All three of them did.

[su_spacer size=”40″] Jake is asked about special teams and whether or not he and other players are competing to get on those units:
[su_spacer size=”40″]

Yes. That is a good question. I think so. I think what makes a special teams unit great is when your best players want to be on it. You have guys like Sony Michel who bust his butt. He works harder than anybody on special teams … That is all across the board on the team. Everyone is trying to get on it. I think our philosophy is the best 11 on special teams. I think that competition on kickoff, punt and kickoff return, all that stuff is really making us better in that phase. I’m excited to see that this fall.

[su_spacer size=”40″] Jake Ganus emphasized Roquan Smith’s speed as an inside linebacker, and he is not the first player or coach to do so during these first 11 days of Fall Camp. Ganus is also not the only player to talk about the competition to be on special teams.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Could we see a faster group of inside linebackers for the Dawgs in 2015 and faster special teams’ units on punt and kickoff coverage?
