It’s been two weeks since National Signing Day for the 2016 recruiting class, and while there are still a few prospects for the 2016 class that still have to make a decision, like Savannah Christian’s Demetris Robertson, for the most part, college football coaches and programs are now full steam ahead with 2017 recruiting. And the Bulldawg’s next recruiting class is starting to pick up steam after they received a commitment on Monday.

2017 offensive lineman Justin Shaffer flipped his commitment from the University of Louisville to Georgia on Monday, which brought the Dawgs up to 4 commitments for the class of 2017. Shaffer is a 6 foot 5 and 325 lbs out of Cedar Grove High School where he plays on the o-line for the Saints out of Ellenwood, GA. Shaffer is the size of offensive linemen that Coaches Smart and Pittman are looking for as they work to build a wall on the offensive line for their running backs and quarterbacks to play behind.

The other three current commitments for the class of 2017 for Georgia are:

Breon Dixon

Dixon is a 6 foot 0 and 218 lbs outside linebacker out of Peachtree Ridge High School from Suwannee, GA. He is rated a consensus 4-star prospect at linebacker by 247Sports, ESPN, Rivals and Scout and is considered one of the top 15 linebackers in the class of 2017 along with being a top 25 player in the state of Georgia

Jaden Hunter

Hunter is a 6 foot 3 and 221 lbs outside linebacker out of Westlake High School from the Atlanta metro area. He is rated a consensus 4-star prospect at linebacker by 247Sports, ESPN, Rivals and Scout and is considered one of the top 10 linebackers in the class of 2017 along with being a top 20 player in the state of Georgia

Richard LeCounte III

LeCounte was the first 2017 prospect to commit to Georgia under new Head Coach Kirby Smart, committing back on December 13th during Smart’s first week on the job. He is a 5 foot 11 and 174 lbs safety and wide receiver for the Liberty County high school varsity football team out of Hinesville, GA. LeCounte is ranked as a 5-star prospect at athlete for the 2017 class by 247Sports composite ranking system along with the one of the top 2 players in the state of Georgia and overall at athlete in the country.
