Daily Dawg Thread 02 July 2020: Linebacker recruiting – Prince Kollie

One of the positions of need for Georgia in the 2021 recruiting class is linebacker.

That statement may seem odd given had loaded the Bulldogs are at the position currently. However, UGA only signed one backer in the 2020 recruiting class, Mekhail Sherman, and senior inside linebackers Nate McBride and Monty Rice and senior outside linebackers Jermaine Johnson and Walter Grant will suit up for their final year of eligibility this fall. Inside linebackers Channing Tindall and Quay Walker are juniors as are outside linebackers Adam Anderson and Robert Beal. Add to that, Azeez Ojulari is a redshirt sophomore and is eligible to declare after this season, and looking ahead to 2021, Rian Davis, Nakobe Dean, Trezman Marshall, and Nolan Smith will be juniors.

Good news is that the Georgia coaching staff are well on their way to continue to build depth at that linebacker position.

The Dawgs landed the commitment of Carrollton High School four-star 2021 linebacker Chaz Chambliss on Tuesday earlier this week and look to be in a good position to land Paulding High School five-star 2021 linebacker Smael Mondon. But another name fans need to know and keep an eye on is David Crockett High School 2021 linebacker Prince Kollie.

UGA offered Kollie earlier in the spring in April.

The 6-foot-1 and 197 lbs rising senior out of Jonesborough, TN has over 33 scholarship offers currently, and including the one from the Bulldogs, he also holds offers from Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Tennessee to name a few programs. Recently, Kollie released his top-ten schools and along with Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee, Georgia made his list.

A talented athlete, Kollie competes at not only outside linebacker and safety for the David Crockett Pioneers defense but also at running back and wide receiver on offense where he has been a dangerous pass catcher. In 2019, Kollie hauled in over 68 receptions for 1,085 yards and 9 touchdowns in 11 games. On defense, Kollie has made 143 tackles the last two season, 6 of those for a loss, along with 2 quarterback sacks, 13 passes defended, 4 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles including 2 recoveries. In addition to football, Kollie also plays varsity high school basketball.

247Sports and ESPN both rate Kollie a four-star OLB prospect for 2021. Rivals rates Kollie a three-star athlete prospect currently.
