Per an announcement on his Twitter account on Tuesday night, talented 2020 athlete Corey Wren, out of John Curtis Christian High School, River Ridge, LA, has reopened up his recruitment and decommitted from UGA.

Wren committed to Georgia back on during the summer on June 21st. While Wren was not the biggest prospect, the 5-foot-9, 170 lbs senior has the speed to burn. In addition to playing on his high school’s varsity football team, Wren competed in track and field and holds two Division 1 Louisiana indoor 60-meter champion titles.

His de-commitment leaves the Bulldogs with 15 still verbally committed to the 2020 recruiting class. Out of those 15, Georgia has two receivers still standing pat in 6-foot-4 and 200 lbs Justin Robinson (Eagle’s Landing Christian School, Mcdonough, GA) and 6-foot-2 and 185 lbs four-star Marcus Rosemy (St.Thomas Aquinas High School, Fort Lauderdale, FL).

So is the Georgia coaching staff looking to add back another receiver or two?

Back on the 6th of October 2019’s Daily Dawg Thread, click here if you missed that one, we discussed UGA possibly taking four receivers in the 2020 recruiting class. Of course, that was before Wren’s de-commitment, but it is still possible.

Georgia is still recruiting several uncommitted prospects at receiver including Xzavier Henderson and Arian Smith. Both Henderson and Smith are four-star, top-20 prospect at WR. In addition to Henderson and Smith, Northwestern High School senior wide receiver Marcus Fleming released his top-five schools on Monday, November 25th and including the Bulldogs.

And a new name and potential flip candidate has popped up in conversation recently. Calabasas High School, California Jermaine Burton is currently committed to LSU but is one that Dawg fans who follow recruiting to keep their eye on. At 6-foot-1 and 190 lbs, 247Sports rates Burton as a four-star prospect and the No. 8 WR and top 50 recruit overall nationally in the 2020 recruiting class.

As I like to say, stay tuned folks, and especially over the next three weeks with the Early Signing Period approaching.
