Daily Dawg Thread 08 December 2019: Who will be signing early with UGA?

Updated…

Early Signing Day for Division 1 FBS college football is on Wednesday, December 18th. It is actually over three days from the 18th through Friday the 20th, but most of the excitement falls on the first day of the Early Signing Period. This gives an opportunity for prospective student-athletes to sign their National Letter of Intent, also known as an LOI for short, and not have to wait till February to do so.

There is a number of Georgia’s current 15 verbal commitments for the 2020 recruiting class that are planning on signing early.

Carson Beck, a 6-foot-5 and 226 lbs four-star quarterback out of Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, FL, plans to not only sign his LOI early but will also be enrolling early at UGA.

Four-star running back Kendall Milton is another prospect that plans to sign and enroll early. The 6-foot-2 and 215 lbs Buchanan High School senior will join the Dawgs after he plays in the All-American Bowl, which takes place on Saturday, January 4th in San Antonio, TX. Four-star cornerback Jalen Kimber is also playing in the All-American Bowl with Milton, and he plans to sign early and then arrive in Athens after playing in the all-star game.

Another player who will join the team in January after playing in an all-star high school football game is IMG Academy defensive tackle Warren Brinson. The 6-foot-5 and 290 lbs Brinson will sign his LOI in December and then head to Athens after playing in the Under Armour All-America Game, which will be on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, FL.

Joining Beck, Brinson, Kimber, and Milton in signing early in December and being in Athens in January are Suwannee high school offensive lineman Joshua Braun and ELCA wide receiver Justin Robinson.

If you are keeping count that is six UGA commits signing early and enrolling early so far, but there are also some recruits who plan on signing early but will not enroll until over the summer.

Offensive linemen Chad Lindberg ( Clear Creek High School, League City, TX) and Tate Ratledge (Darlington School, Rome, GA) will both sign their LOI’s during the Early Signing Period but don’t graduate till next spring.

There are a number of undeclared prospective student-athletes who have Georgia in their list of top schools or that hold offers from UGA that are planning to sign early.

CJ Stroud, a four-star quarterback out of Rancho Cucamonga High School in California has not set an announcement date but is planning on signing an LOI early and also enroll early at the program he chooses.

Marcus Fleming, a four-star wide receiver out of Northwestern High School in the Miami, FL area, plans to announce his decision on Early Signing Day on December 18th and sign his LOI. Fleming will not enroll early as he doesn’t graduate till spring.

Jordan Burch, a five-star prospect out of Columbia, SC and the No. 1 defensive end in the 2020 recruiting class, is another recruit making his decision announcement during the Early Signing Period, on Thursday, December 19th.

Eric Reed, Jr., a four-star prospect out of Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, LA and a top-200 player nationally, just recently (on Thursday) decided he would be announcing his decision and signing on Early Signing Day on December 18. Reed is not planning on being an early enrollee, though as he graduates this coming spring.

Tight end Theo Johnson just recently set an announcement date for Monday, December 9th and plans on signing early. Johnson also plans to enroll early.

Other prospects could decide between now and December 18th to go ahead and put pen to paper and sign early. Wide receiver Arian Smith, a 6-foot-1 and 170 lbs senior out of Lakeland, FL, is one such recruit to keep your eye on.
