Daily Dawg Thread – 21July2019: Update on Chad Lindberg

Today on Bulldawg Illustrated we give an update on a class of 2020 offensive line prospect, Chad Lindberg. He is rated a 4-star OT prospect by 247Sports as well as ESPN and Rivals. The 6-foot-7 and 327 lbs offensive tackle out of Clear Creek High School, League City, Texas has over 37 scholarship offers. UGA offered Lindberg back in April of last year after he took an unofficial visit. He was back in Athens just a couple of months ago during the last weekend in May for an official visit. In addition to Georgia, Lindberg has taken officials to Texas, LSU, Southern California, and his last one was to College Station and Texas A&M.

Currently, all of 247’s crystal ball predictions have him headed to Texas, and the Longhorns are a strong favorite being the home, in-state program; however, the Bulldawgs are very much in this race as well as LSU and Stanford. The question is does Georgia have room to take Lindberg in this 2020 class with three o-linemen, Joshua Braun, Broderick Jones, and Tate Ratledge, already committed?

I expect so as the UGA coaching staff are likely looking to sign 4 to 5 offensive linemen for 2020. Both Andrew Thomas and Isaiah Wilson will be eligible to declare for the NFL Draft after the 2019 season. Solomon Kindley and Ben Cleveland are also eligible to do so. While it is unlikely that all four will forgo the rest of their collegiate eligibility to do so, there is the potential that the Dawgs could lose 4 linemen after this season is in the books. Even if they return, Cleveland, Kindley, and Thomas will be seniors in 2020 and Wilson a fourth-year junior; so, continuing to build depth is key for Georgia to sustain the ‘great wall of red and black’ that Sam Pittman has built over the last 4 years.
