The Georgia Football spring game is now in the books and the Dawgs came away victorious in more than one way as they garnered a commitment from Class of 2020 4-Star OG Akinola Ogunbiyi on Saturday. Other recruits also came away impressed after the annual G-Day game in Athens as can be evidenced by a host of them on Twitter.

While some in attendance expressed their feelings of being impressed and their thoughts on the state of the program altogether, other potential recruits that did not attend asked other fellow recruits that did for a recap of the UGA visit. One potential prospect that took part in doing so was Class of 2020 4-Star SDE Jacolbe Cowan of Charlotte, North Carolina. The Providence Day School star reached out on Twitter to Class of 2020 5-Star RB Kendall Milton (California) and Class of 2020 5-Star OLB Mekhail Sherman asking them to reach out and provide him with a recap of it all.

Instances such as this show the kind of relationships and bonds that potential recruits can form with one another and how one’s assessment of a particular college football program can ultimately influence another as they decide which schools to commit to and play for in the future. Cowan’s inquiry is even more intriguing and curious in that the 6-5 and 265 pound SDE already holds an offer from Georgia. It would be interesting to know if Milton and Sherman did reach out to Cowan and discuss the G-Day visit and what the talks consisted of if such did indeed occur.

Cowan is no stranger in showing his interest with the Georgia Football program and has a long-standing relationship with UGA defensive line coach Tray Scott. The defensive prospect attended a camp in 2015 and garnered Scott’s attention while he was employed coaching football for the University of North Carolina. When Scott left UNC for UGA, the interest made the move along with him. After arriving at Georgia in February of 2017, Scott was able to muster up enough influence and credibility in going to bat for Cowan and Georgia became the first school to proffer him a scholarship in March of the same year. Other programs quickly jumped on board and Cowan is now up to a whopping 36 offers to include ones from Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State. He is the currently ranked the #6 overall strong-side defensive end in the country for the Class of 2020 and the #4 overall prospect in the state of North Carolina. In any event and no matter what feedback Milton or Sherman may have provided about their G-Day visit to Cowan, he would be a valuable asset to obtain for Tray Scott and the Georgia defense should he decide to play for the University of Georgia in the end.
