Video/Transcript: Ladd McConkey and Kenny McIntosh Interviews – August 31, 2022

On when he knew he’d be able to make an impact last season…

“I really think that kind of came in practice and just translated over to the game. Playing against that defense last year that we had, and even this year, I’m going up against the number one defense in the nation. Being able to play against those guys just gives me the confidence to go out and do it against everybody else. Really, just every day in practice going against them, I think that translates over to the game.”

On the confidence level of the offense…

“We are definitely confident. Oregon is a great team, so we are going to have to come out and do our best. Execute, that is really what it comes down to. We can draw up as many plays as we want, but if we don’t execute it doesn’t matter. We just have to go out there and play our game and let the rest take care of itself.”

On the strengths of the WR room…

“I think we have a lot of guys that can make explosive plays. We’re big. we’re small. We’re fast. It’s a wide variety and I think all of us have our own skill sets that we can bring to the table. Each one of us has different attributes that we bring to the table. That is kind of our biggest strength, we all know how to use what we are good at.”

On getting locked in for the first game of the season…

“I’ve been waiting for this moment; I feel like I’ve played a lot of big games already, so you know I know wasn’t like the league back going out there like Zamir and Cook, I still went out there and played and did what I had to do, so I’ve been waiting on this moment my whole life. Like I said high school I never had like playing in front of thousands of fans and stuff like that and I been here for three years since I was a freshman so for me, I feel like better.”

On the journey to being a starter…

“I mean I’ve been like that my whole life, I’m kind of like the underdog if you want to say it like that. So, I’ve really been prepared for this moment to come so just for me to be here in this moment, thank God for me to finally get here and get the opportunity to just go out there and showcase my talent.”

On his mentality coming into camp and things he wanted to accomplish…

“Just being that leader, playing that role being the older guy in the room, me and Kendall had this conversation a few times like we remember being the young guys in the room and stuff like that, just wanting to be in this position.”
