Dawgs Begin Play in 2021 Scenic City Collegiate Today

The Georgia men’s golf team will continue the fall portion of its schedule this week in the 2021 Scenic City Collegiate in Ooltewah, Tenn.

Lineup: Senior Trent Phillips; juniors Nicolas Cassidy and Ben van Wyk; and freshmen Buck Brumlow and Maxwell Ford. Senior Will Kahlstorf will compete as an individual.





Field: Georgia, Chattanooga, UAB, Augusta, Clemson, ETSU, Kennesaw State, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, UNCG, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Virginia.

Schedule and format: The tournament will open Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start with continuous play to get in 36 holes. The remaining 18 holes will be played on Tuesday starting at 8 a.m. with tee times off Nos. 1 and 10. Teams will have lineups of five players, with the low four counting.

Rankings: No. 13 Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll; No. 17 GolfChannel.com.





Course: The Honors Course (par 72, 7,290 yards).

Live Results: Golfstat will provide team and individual results, pairings, and tee times.

Last Time: Phillips placed second and the Bulldogs came in sixth as the Bulldogs opened the season in The Carmel Cup in Pebble Beach, Calif. 

Coach Chris Haack Says: “We’re excited for another opportunity to compete, and we’re thrilled that it’s a venue with the reputation of The Honors Course. We will be facing another talented and deep field, so we’ll have to be at our best. We are coming off some spirited qualifying rounds. Our young guys have stepped up, and this will give them another chance to get their feet wet at the collegiate level.”

News & Notes: Phillips is 30-for-30 in tournament appearances for the Bulldogs. … van Wyk, who played his first two seasons at Augusta, will make his Georgia debut. His last name is pronounced “fun-vake” … The Honors Course has been the site of such events as the 1996 and 2001 NCAA Championships, the 1991 U.S. Amateur, and the 2016 U.S. Junior Amateur … Cassidy is serving this year on Georgia’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, while Kalhstorf and junior Connor Creasy are on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
