Five-star class of 2017 prospect Demetris Robertson signs financial aid paperwork with Georgia after an official visit to the Bulldogs over the weekend with his family.

Scout.com’s Chad Simmons first broke the news on social media:

The talented athlete and receiver out of Savannah Christian Preparatory School had a good visit to Athens where UGA freshman quarterback and early enrollee Jacob Eason played host for Robertson and his family. And while signing financial aid paperwork is not binding in the same way as a national letter of intent nor is it an official commitment to Georgia, it does allow for Georgia’s coaches and staff to have unlimited contact with Demetris Robertson till he makes his final decision. It also allows for coaches to mention the prospect in public which would normally be an NCAA recruiting violation, but not after the paperwork is signed. For example:

Robertson has also signed financial aid paperwork with two other schools, the University of California and Georgia Tech.

So what does that mean for UGA and when will Demetris Robertson commit? Will he sign a letter of intent?

Robertson has till April 1st to sign a national letter of intent, but he is not required to do so. It is most likely that he will not sign one either, especially having signed financial aid paperwork.

As far as when D-Rob will announce his commitment, that is still a question mark, but the fact that he did sign financial aid paperwork with the Bulldogs is a very good sign that they are in the thick of it with programs like Cal and GT along with Notre Dame and Stanford as he makes his final decision. In other words, D-Rob’s recruitment will not be over till he enrolls in classes at the school of his choice. Hopefully, that school will be the University of Georgia.
