Doing More Starts with Strength and Conditioning

Everyone knows Kirby Smart has recruited at a level that matches any program in the country since his arrival in Athens. All it takes is a quick look at any of the player star-ratings or team class rankings of any recruiting service to convince oneself of Georgia’s appearance as a national force on the recruiting scene. Of course, very few athletes arrive at their college of choice ready to step onto the field and compete with seasoned football players.

While it is undeniably true that the more talent a recruit possesses, the greater the likelihood the youngster will stand out in college – all of the nations top schools all have rosters loaded with exceptional athletes. Nowhere is this truer than in the SEC. The Bulldog’s mantra for the 2019 season is “Do More,” and that is precisely the requirement for moving UGA ahead of the competition both nationally and within the League.

If Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and several other programs have recruited at a level that provides their programs with the required raw material to field championship teams, what separates them on game day? Preparation has to be the answer. The winning team in an evenly matched contest will likely be the one with the most effective coaching, but there is another aspect of preparation that often gets overlooked by fans.

Transforming the bodies of those talented newcomers through nutrition and developmental strength training is the key to rising above the other teams vying annually for the national title.

Georgia’s strength and conditioning staff rank at the top as the results on display in the photos on this page clearly show. Scott Sinclair and his staff have given talented players the brute strength and stamina to walk into an arena and compete toe-to-toe with all comers.

“Do More” indeed!

Guessing a depth chart is a difficult task, but opening the season on the road with and SEC team presents special challenges. Conference rules require that the travel roster be limited to 70 players. That restriction will mean that some very talented players will not be on the plane.

Georgia’s quality depth along the offensive line is so impressive. I would not be surprised at any combination that Sam Pittman uses against the Commodores.
