The Sporting News has produced the first of many (too many) rankings to be inflicted on the reading public between now and the opening kickoff of the 2018 season. So, read this one and pass on the next 100 or so because the narrative for UGA will be basically the same.

Georgia is losing players to the NFL draft but might be OK because Kirby has a pretty good recruiting class coming in. That is my synopsis of what you’ll see all spring and summer. It is interesting to note that Clemson gets a higher ranking and more positive review from Sporting News- why? Apparently, it is because Dabo has done it before.

2. Clemson Tigers

Business as usual for Dabo Swinney. The Tigers will suffer losses to the NFL Draft, but Kelly Bryant is back, running back Travis Etienne is a value pick for the Heisman Trophy and the defensive line can re-tool around Dexter Lawrence. The arrival of five-star freshmen Trevor Lawrence and Xavier Thomas only reinforces the point: Clemson isn’t going anywhere.

Georgia is ranked third and that’s OK.
