Pressure the Passer –  This one always fits. Georgia has certainly missed Jordan Davis, Number 99 nose tackle extraordinaire. Can the Bulldogs get to the quarterback without bringing extra pressure? If Vanderbilt can block Georgia’s front three or four (depending on the formation), the Commodores will have a shot to move the ball through the air. Ken Seals is a very good quarterback and he has done some damage to some very good teams. Vanderbilt, though, like Georgia has been hurt by interceptions. The Commodores are averaging over a pick per game. Can the Bulldogs bring the heat, and make the plays on the back end?

Run it Strong Georgia–  Most of Georgia’s best ever teams have been paced by elite runners. Many of those greats – like Herschel Walker, Todd Gurley, Nick Chubb and Sony Michel – had tremendous games against the Commodores. Most notably, No. 34, who carried 23 times for 283 yards and three touchdowns in the 41-0 victory by the 1980 national champions. The Bulldogs have had some strong rushing attacks this season, and need a big one on Saturday against the ‘Dores.

Strike Downfield –  Well Georgia has been looking for those consistent big plays in the vertical passing game the last two seasons. The last time the Bulldogs were at home, Georgia got them. J.T. Daniels was able to find Jermaine Burton, Kearis Jackson and George Pickens for big downfield strikes. It sounds pretty simple. With the strength and tradition of Georgia’s running game, if the Bulldogs can consistently get big chunks of yardage vertically, the offense can thrive. It’s a key for a successful close to 2020 and keeping the offensive optimism on the rise for 2021.

Big Play Kicking Game –  Jake Podlesny and Jack Camarda need solid performances. That’s a given. But Georgia could create some distance against Vanderbilt with a big play – or two – on special teams. Georgia has hit some big returns this year, and the opportunity should be there for the Bulldogs to break one against the Commodores. What a lift that big return can deliver. Jackson has been very good on punts, and Kenny McIntosh before his injury at Alabama, was one of the country’s top kickoff returners.

Bring It – This is 2020. Everything is off. It was beyond odd for Georgia not to play the Yellow Jackets on Thanksgiving. This is the date the Southeastern Conference Championship Game was supposed to be. But everyone is dealing with it. Georgia’s crowds for the three previous games at Sanford Stadium have been lights out – helping push the Bulldogs to victories over Auburn, Tennessee and South Carolina. This is the chance to say goodbye at home in 2020, and collect some memories that will certainly seem out of place when over 90,000 are back Between the Hedges. Vanderbilt is struggling, but the Commodores have hung close with most of their opponents – including Texas A&M. Anything can happen. The Bulldogs and the loyal and raucous fan base need to be on point Saturday.
