Former UGA offensive lineman Tyler Catalina posted on social media on Tuesday that he was officially a Washington Redskin.

Now, Catalina’s journey to make Washington’s 53-man roster for the 2017 NFL season begins.

While Tyler Catalina was only with the Bulldogs’ football team for the 2016 season, he did his best to fill a big hole left on the offensive line, when, after the 2015 season, offensive tackles Kolton Houston and John Theus finished their collegiate careers. Catalina was a graduate transfer from the University of Rhode Island and joined the team over the summer of 2016 in time to compete during fall camp. He would win the start at left tackle for the first game versus North Carolina and ended up starting 12 of Georgia’s 13 games at the LT spot.

And while fans’ opinions of how well Catalina played and performed on the football field will vary widely, I shudder to think what state the offensive line would have been in without his help. He’s a DGD in my book, and I wish him much success at the next level.
