I’m proud of the way they have competed and responded. I think that the fact that they get the come in summer, and that we get to legally meet with them, has allowed kids as freshmen to be able to play more. So I am sitting out there going; wow, on every two-deep there is a guy that just got here, and he is surpassing guys that are sophomores and juniors.

Here’s what Smart had to say about freshman running backs Brian Herrien and Elijah Holyfield.

Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

From what I’ve seen and heard so far, I’ve really been impressed with this 2016 recruiting class. Looking forward to seeing them take the field and play.
