From The Field: Man, Was I Ever Wrong

Georgia rolled into Baton Rouge with a whole lot of confidence and met a squad of Tigers who stole the day from the Bulldogs. Actually, I  was pretty close with my score prediction. However, I  had Georgia winning by a score of 37-17.

LSU completely frustrated Georgia on both sides of the ball. As coach Smart said in his post game interview, the Bulldogs were out played, out coached and “out physicaled.” This was one of those game that went so wrong that I  cannot see much value in reviewing the film. Of course, Georgia will study the film and the coaching staff will point out the mistakes and show this young team how to correct them, but that film session could go on for hours.

As I  write this, everything in me says to turn away from this game, put it behind me and look at the achievements that are still available for this team. Yes, they lost the football game, but they did not destroy a season. After the bye week, the traditional battle with Florida looms for the Bulldogs. There is no reason to assume that this coaching staff will not have its team ready to bounce back just like they did a year ago after the Auburn loss.
