The first round matchup will mark just the third all-time meeting between the Bulldogs and Wolverines, with Georgia having won both of the prior contests. The most recent of those wins came in 2012 at this same tournament and venue as the No. 6 Bulldogs downed the No. 10 Wolverines 5-2 in a consolation match.

Hosted by Virginia at the Boar’s Head Tennis Club, this season’s tournament features a field of 16 teams who progressed to the event by means of winning their respective ITA Kick-Off matches two weekends ago.

Last season, Georgia progressed through the first round of the National Indoor Championships with a 4-0 win over No. 9 Miami but fell 4-3 to No. 8 California in the quarterfinals. This season’s road to the final should prove just as challenging, as the Bulldogs could potentially face No. 1 UCLA in a Saturday quarterfinal if both teams win their first round matches.
