Georgia is all tied up with Georgia Tech 14 all at halftime.  The Yellow Jackets will get the ball to start the second half.

 

Putting Points On The Scoreboard:

Georgia headed into the locker room tied with Georgia Tech 14-14, marking the first time the Bulldogs have been tied at halftime this season.

 

The Bulldogs ran an 11-play drive for 75 yards that took 6:00 in the first quarter to tie the score at 7-all.  This drive was the longest drive for Georgia this season after posting a 5:54 scoring drive at #23 Ole Miss.  Junior TB Sony Michel capped the drive with a 10-yard touchdown run, which marks his third touchdown this season.

 

Michel then had a season-long rush of 42 yards to push him over 100 yards to set up the Bulldogs’ second touchdown.  Michel had 12 carries for 117 yards in the first two periods.  He now has eight career 100-yard rushing games and three this season.  Michel has 2,271 yards in his career and is in a tie for 10th with Frank Sinkwich on the school’s all-time list.  Junior Isaiah McKenzie scored UGA’s second touchdown on a 6-yard reception giving him a team-leading 10 total touchdowns (seven receiving) this year.

 

Junior TB Nick Chubb finished the half with 13 carries for 58 yards in the first half.  He passed Garrison Hearst (3,232) for third on the school’s all-time list and now has a career total of 3,252.

 

Turnovers:

The Bulldogs are now +8 in Turnover Margin.  Junior S Dominick Sanders snagged his 12th career interception (team-high third this season) on the Georgia 9-yard line with 0:56 left in the half.  The Bulldogs ran out the clock on the next possession.

 

Overall, Georgia has forced 24 turnovers for 47 points while opponents have turned 16 Bulldog miscues into 59 points this season.

 

Defending The Option:

Georgia held the Yellow Jackets to 224 yards, including 115 on the ground.  Georgia Tech came into the contest averaging 388.5 total yards and 260.3 rushing yards a game.  Junior OLB Lorenzo Carter leads the Bulldogs with five stops, including one tackle for loss, and sophomore ILB Roquan Smith has four tackles.

Starters:

Junior OG Isaiah Wynn returned to the starting lineup after missing last week’s contest.  Junior Dyshon Sims started in place of Wynn last week.

 

Today’s Captains:

Junior TB Nick Chubb, senior C Brandon Kublanow and senior DB Maurice Smith served as the Bulldog captains.
