Isaiah McKenzie’s Fast Start Does Not Surprise Teammates

Isaiah McKenzie has gotten off to an outstanding start for the Bulldogs this season, but this comes as no surprise to some of his teammates.

Running backs Sony Michel and Nick Chubb were both questioned on how they have seen Isaiah McKenzie grow and develop prior to this season and each player said they were not surprised by McKenzie’s play.

Game in and game out, Isaiah McKenzie has been the Bulldogs most consistent but also their most dynamic offensive playmaker this season.

He has helped picked up the slack in the Bulldogs previous two games and has helped alleviate a lot of the Bulldogs worries after having a surprisingly quiet running game these past two weeks.

Chubb mentioned that he was proud of Isaiah McKenzie and that he hoped McKenzie kept his great play up and also went on to say that McKenzie has “grown a lot and matured a lot” this year.

Sony Michel, who went to high school with McKenzie, went on to add this notion of being proud of McKenzie for what he has done these first three games and he had this to say:

No shock to what he is doing because he has been practicing throughout, each week he has been putting in numbers… We have this GPS system that we use and he’s one of the top guys who produces every day in practice so when game time comes it shows

McKenzie has clearly been putting in the time and effort in practice during his recent surge as the Bulldogs most productive offensive player.

If his stats through the first three games are not enough evidence of the work Isaiah McKenzie has put in, then the praise he has received from players like Sony Michel and Nick Chubb and head coach Kirby Smart should show just how hard he has been working.

McKenzie has been very involved through the first three games and it will be interesting to see what new and tricky ways the Bulldogs offensive staff try to get the ball in his hands.
