It’s Time for ‘Tech Mode’

In a video the Georgia football team posted on social media, head coach Kirby Smart told his players that he was officially in ‘Tech mode.’ What does ‘Tech mode’ mean?

Smart explained to the media that it means a few things, but that it’s rivalry week and the team must do a good job against them.

“Focus, concentration, effort, toughness, competitive fibers. I mean, Tech is one of our rivals. I mean, who is not? So it’s like, next up. I mean, you look at our schedule, it’s like everybody’s a big rival. These guys are a big rival,” Smart said. “And we have to do a good job against them because it’s a tough matchup, it’s a tough game to play. And we have to send our seniors out the right way.”

The last time Tech came to town; the Yellow Jackets defeated Georgia 28-27. Georgia Tech made a 14 point fourth quarter comeback to win the game. After that game, Tech players tore the hedges up and celebrated. Georgia answered last year in Atlanta giving Tech some payback destroying them 38-7.

Despite getting revenge, the Bulldogs still have some unfinished business at home where defending their turf is priority number one. Smart said that had been the message for every game, not just the Tech game.

“That’s been a message all year. It’s not been about Tech obviously. It’s been about the teams that have been championship teams have defended their home turf. We have a bulletin board about it. When you win your games at home, it gives you a much better chance to win the East. When you win games at home, it gives you a much better chance of winning the SEC. And we’ve talked about that all along,” Smart commented. “And we want to continue to do that, and I think that’s a big part of it. Not because it’s Tech but because it’s our home stadium. And we want our fans to come out, support these guys, even over Thanksgiving break, it’s critical that we have the momentum and the fan base behind us to make it an advantage for us. But we want to play well for these seniors, and these seniors want to go out on top.”

Smart said it, and I’m relaying it to all of Bulldog Nation, show up on Saturday. Even if it is a 12 o’clock kickoff, be there and be loud. These seniors deserve all the love and support for wearing that ‘G’ the last four to five years. Fans, show up in ‘Tech mode’ and send these seniors out with a winning record against the in-state rivals we all love to hate.
