On Monday, two Florida players made it known that they didn’t think Georgia could beat them. Trash-talking is a natural thing when it comes to competitive sports, but when its Georgia/Florida week, everything is different. J.R. Reed talked about those comments made by the Gators and how Georgia isn’t paying much attention to them.

Reed mentioned to the media that he found out what the two players said through friends texting him and via social media on Twitter. However, he felt like it was just regular trash talking that happens between players.

For me, it’s regular trash talk,” Reed says. “It’s people just talking and trying to get under your skin. I just don’t pay much attention to it.”

Despite him not paying much attention to it, one of the comments involved something about Jake Fromm. The Florida player said something along the lines of the passes Fromm throws aren’t hard, anyone can throw a slant pass. Reed commented on that statement and just said they would let them find out on game day.

We just going to let them find out on game day and see what he can really do and keep them moving,” Reed states.

However, the comical part of the topic was Reed stating that he expects trash talk from some teams and others not so much. He even let it slip out that he expects it from Florida.

It’s Florida so, that’s what you expect from some teams,” Reed mentions with a chuckle. “Some teams you don’t expect, but it doesn’t bother me that much.”

Quickly after the statement, one of the reporters asked if he really expects that from Florida. Reed laughed and said no, that it’s trash talk and not a big deal to the team. He mentions that what they hear on the field is much worse than the small comments made by the Gator players.

Naw, it’s just trash talk. It’s no big deal,” Reed says. “There’s a lot worse things said on the field. You have to have thick skin and don’t worry about it.”

The comments don’t seem to phase Georgia or JR Reed. However, we will see if the Bulldogs play with an added vengeance on Saturday when they go head-to-head against a struggling Gator team. If the past says anything about this rivalry it’s going to be an aggressive game that keeps people excited.
