Kevin Butler’s Players of the Game – Georgia vs. Alabama

Kevin Butler

Kevin Butler, one of the greatest players in Georgia and Chicago Bears history, gives us his players of the game every week. A member of the College Football Hall of Fame, the University’s Circle of Honor, and a Super Bowl Champion, Butler serves as co-host of Dawg Talk and the Bulldog Brunch from the Hilltop Grille.

Offensive Player- James Cook – The junior Running back from Miami, Florida turned in a wonderful performance on offense against Alabama through the air and on the ground. Cook’s ability to be involved in the air attack and the ground attack creates a challenge for opposing defenses. The ground attack was strong, averaging 4.8 yards per carry which is enough to dominate … only if you stick with it … we didn’t. So to the air with James Cook, and he had four catches for 101 yards with a TD of 82 yards and that easily made JC the most dangerous player on the offense Saturday night for the Bulldogs. The next time we face the Tide, Cook needs to be a factor again if the Bulldogs are expected to win.

Defensive Player- QUAY WALKER – The 6-4, 240-pound junior linebacker had a strong game against a strong Alabama rushing game, making seven tackles with three solos in the middle of the war of the trenches. Georgia dominated the rushing game in the first half being led by Quay and a good Bulldog defense. As Bama challenged UGA in the second half, Quay played hard and kept pushing for respect. I love his play and the determination of Mr. Walker…..oh, and I do love his last name.

Special Player Jake Camarda – the junior punter is simply the best in the nation. He can flip the field, he can hang them high, he can drop the ball inside the 10 every time and he limited Alabama’s punt returners to zero yards. That is a game-changer and so is Jake. His kickoffs were what I call perfect because they were out of the end zone. We are lucky to have a little Blue Devil in our kicking game.
