Kevin Butler’s Players of the Game: Georgia vs. Charleston Southern

Each week, Georgia and Chicago Bears Hall of Fame legend Kevin Butler picks his Players of the Game. A member of numerous Halls of Fame and holder of a slew of records, Butler co-hosts DawgTalk on Georgia Football Saturdays and the famous Bulldog Brunch from the Hilltop Grille on Sundays. — Compiled by Jeff Dantzler

Offensive Player

The offensive players of the week are Zamir White and James Cook. In another long line of great running backs, this duo is setting the bar very high for future running backs that are lucky enough to have the chance to play at Georgia. In a performance that was shorten by too much talent by the Georgia team versus Charleston Southern, Zamir and James combined for 10 carries for 140 yards a mere 14 yards per carry and two TDs. The difference in their running styles create a 1-2 punch that not many teams can stop. These two seniors will take Georgia through Atlanta and then back through Atlanta and then on to a national championship. These two seniors are great bulldogs and will be greatly missed.

Defensive Player

Javon Bullard – the freshman defensive back from Milledgeville, Georgia made a great day out of the opportunity to play against Charleston Southern. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder got physical in his play Saturday with six tackles and four solos. He showed consistent tackling skills as Charleston Southern tried to gain yardage through the air because the ground game was closed. Javon will be an important player in the coming years and Saturday was a good indication of another great DB on the rise. As you know Coach Smart wants his DBs to play all positions and we have great expectations for Javon.

Special Teams Player

Jake Camarda – well I have a soft spot for punters in my heart for some reason (son, Drew)! But let me tell you something about Jake … he is special! The senior from Norcross has been a factor in every game since he has been a Dawg. Flipping the field, dropping punts inside the 20,10 and 5-yard line is impressive as well as the 70 yard bombs. His kickoffs are unmatched with distances and hang time and his hands are so important to Podlesny when converting a field goal. Jake has become a leader and one of the best punters to come through Georgia in a while. Jake, let’s finish with a National Championship!
