Kirby Smart on Offensive Line: “We Know how to Mix and Mingle”

During Monday’s press conference, Coach Kirby Smart talked about offensive line rotation and Isaiah Wynn sliding over to Tyler Catalina’s spot after Catalina went out with a leg injury. It wasn’t certain that Catalina would be back right away.

Smart told the media that it wasn’t unique for Wynn to play in that spot; that throughout the week Wynn takes reps at different positions on the line.

“We do a rotation, where we have scenarios played out. Where if any guy goes down we know how to mix and mingle those guys,” Smart said.

Rotating positions is something that the offensive line is implementing in the case of certain situations where injuries occur. They want the linemen to be versatile and able to play each position. Smart said that the line would continue to do this in practice because rotation fosters competition and allows the staff to evaluate players for playing time.
