Kirby Smart addressed the media on Monday as Georgia prepares for the SEC Championship and Auburn for the second time this season. The SEC Championship game is a huge publicity event for the SEC and both teams. Smart told the media that there are a lot more advantages to recruiting than disadvantages when it comes to playing in this game.

The head coach mentioned the publicity of the game and exposure each team gets by playing in the conference championship. Smart said there are far more advantages than disadvantages as the only disadvantage was someone else sitting in a recruit’s home over him.

I always believe there are a lot more advantages than disadvantages because you can show what’s on paper,” Smart says. “The publicity you get and just the amount of exposure you get from playing in this game, CBS, and everybody in the country will be tuned in. There is no price tag you can put on that. The only disadvantage is somebody sitting in your kid’s home this week and they’re doing an in-home visit, and they’re getting to sell their program while you’re preparing for a game. But most of the people that we’re recruiting, they understand that we can’t be there right now, and they recognize that we’ll be there as soon as we can. That begins after this game.”

Smart showed the media that the focus is on the game. He showed that the recruits know how important this game is to the future of the team. If a recruit wants to play for Georgia, they understand it will be a week later to see them because of the SEC Championship game.
