The SEC Champion Georgia Bulldogs started back to practice last week and on Monday just before Noon, Head Coach Kirby Smart gave an update on the UGA football team as they continue to prepare for their Rose Bowl opponent, Oklahoma.

Coach Smart also gives an update on OLB Coach Kevin Sherrer and injured players as well as the status of Latavious Brini, Natrez Patrick, and Jayson Stanley, three players who are dealing with legal issues stemming from off the field incidents.

Kevin Sherrer:

Smart says that coach Kevin Sherrer will remain at UGA coaching the outside linebackers with the football team through the bowl games before leaving for his new role at Tennessee at Jeremy Pruitt’s defensive coordinator.

Player status update:

Natrez Patrick and Jayson Stanley are with the team and practicing. Kirby did not specifically say that Patrick and Stanley will travel to California with the team and play in the Rose Bowl. He added that he can not comment much more on their situation due to student-athlete privacy and confidentiality. Latavious Brini’s forgery case is still in the courts; so, Coach Smart he cannot comment on that at this current time but will be able to do so at a later time once Brini goes through the justice system and the disciplinary process.

Injury updates:

John Atkins, who is dealing with an injury to his big toe but is able to practice, will play. Sony Michel is dealing with some dinks and dings but has been able to practice, will play. Malkom Parrish has been limited in practice.
