Nick got a lot of work. Sony got a lot of work with the ones. In the spring, Nick really just did 3rd downs. Sony was already hurt. In the spring, that first day of tackling that’s when Sony hurt his back.

[su_spacer size=”40″] Mark Richt went on to talk about how the staff didn’t want to over work Chubb in the spring since Sony was hurt and another running back was struggling, which Richt did not name. To function and run practices back during Spring Camp, he mentioned that they had senior full back Quayvon Hicks play at tail back some.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Coach Mark Richt went on to explain why they gave so much work to Nick Chubb in the first scrimmage:
[su_spacer size=”40″]

Since everybody is healthy, we felt good doing it. No matter who you are or how many times you’ve done it, you need to get used to carrying the ball with people trying to tackle you. Just playing football. The other thing is you want continuity in your offense. You want to gain confidence in what you’re doing. You want your best players in there. We may taper back a little bit as we get closer to games, but my guess is he’ll get some reps over the next scrimmages as well, unless something happens to someone else in the mean time.

When you have enough depth, you can share the load at a scrimmage and not feel as bad.

[su_spacer size=”40″] how did you use the running backs in the scrimmage, Coach Richt?
[su_spacer size=”40″] The most important point to take away from this post scrimmage press conference about the running backs is that they are all still healthy 11 days into Fall Camp and after running a scrimmage, and yes. I’m knocking on wood as I think and type this.
