[su_spacer size=”20″] Georgia tailback and sophomore Nick Chubb talks with the media after practice about preparing for this week’s game against Louisiana-Monroe, and how the competition at running back has made all the tailbacks better.

Chubb is asked about the difference between preparing for last year’s game one versus Clemson versus this year’s game versus Louisiana-Monroe.
[su_spacer size=”20″]

Last year, I had no idea I was going to play. That was mindset going in there, hoping to get a chance to play, find any opportunity to make the team better. This year, I know I’m going to play. I know what my role is increased from last year, and I’m just excited to go out there and start the season off.

[su_spacer size=”40″] Chubb is asked if he and his teammates are anxious to start the season:
[su_spacer size=”20″]

We’re very anxious. It was a long summer. A long camp, hitting each other and beating each other up. It’s time for us to focus on someone else.

[su_spacer size=”40″] Chubb is asked if the team had a different energy in practice this week compared to last week and the previous weeks of Fall Camp:
[su_spacer size=”20″]

Definitely. It’s game week; so, we’re all pumped up. We have something to actually practice for instead of day after day of just practicing. Now, we are focusing on UL at Monroe. We’re ready for those guys to come down here on Saturday and kick the season off with them.

[su_spacer size=”40″] Chubb is asked if there are any differences between new Running Backs Coach Thomas Brown and last year’s Coach Bryan McClendon:
[su_spacer size=”20″]

Pretty much the same. For us, run the ball hard downhill, ball security, and things like that. They probably differ in how they just teach us … They both do different drills at running back during our individual periods, but other than that, they are pretty much the same.

[su_spacer size=”40″] Chubb is asked if the running back depth, the competition has made him better
[su_spacer size=”20″]

Definitely. Competition is what makes all of us better. Every day we are competing with each other … pulling each other up from the ground … focusing on different aspects of the game together; so, it makes us all better.
