Bleckley County High School 2021 offensive lineman Amarius Mims had a big announcement on Tuesday night on the eve of National Signing Day but it wasn’t a commitment. Mims announced his top-schools, a list of twelve programs that was Southeastern Conference heavy with eight from the league including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.

The 6-foot-7.5 and 315 lbs junior has visited Dawgs a number of times and is just coming off a visit from a couple of weeks ago during the weekend of January 18th for a junior day at UGA. He dropped a hint earlier Monday morning of his announcement.

Back at the beginning of July, Mims released a top-8 that included UGA, Auburn, Alabama, Clemson, Florida, FSU, LSU, and South Carolina, but a couple of weeks later he said his recruitment is still open.

Amarius’ commitment makes number four for Georgia’s 2021 recruiting class. Mims’ joins athlete David Daniel, quarterback Brock Vandagriff, and offensive guard Jared Wilson.

Mims is currently rated a five-star prospect by 247Sports and the No. 3 offensive tackles as well as the No. 2 player from the state of Georgia, and the No. 13 player overall nationally for the 2021 recruiting class. Rivals also rates Mims as a five-star prospect and have him as the No. 1 offensive tackle and player from the Peach State, and the No. 2 player overall nationally. ESPN rates Mims a four-star offensive tackle prospect for 2021.
