3 Things Savannah Wants to See from Georgia

1: Beat Auburn on Third Down

Auburn completes just 36 percent on third down this season. Georgia’s defense needs to force third-and-long and stop the Tigers. If Georgia’s defense can do this, it could get ugly for Auburn and quickly. The Bulldogs did a great job last week getting Kentucky off the field, and they need to continue that trend this week. They need to put some pressure on Jarrett Stidham and force him to make bad decisions. It’s the last regular season SEC game, Georgia’s defense needs to show out for it.

2: Run Dominant

D’Andre Swift and Elijah Holyfield each had career-high games last week in Kentucky. Georgia needs to keep this up against the Tigers. The Bulldogs average 233.8 yards on the ground a game, and I expect them to mimic that today against Auburn. Feed Swift and Holyfield the ball and make Auburn pay. These running backs have a chip on their shoulders, and they’ll be itching to quieten the haters. It won’t surprise me if Swift and Holyfield get a few more career highs against Auburn. These two continue to get better each week, and showing the world that Georgia’s run game is still dominant.

3: Make the Tigers Quit

Georgia needs to impose its will on Auburn and make the Tigers quit. The Bulldogs need to make the experts give them some credit and they should if they can dominate Auburn. This game will be the third time in less than a year that the two teams face off, so the Bulldogs look to go 2-1 against them. Deandre Baker and the rest of the secondary better be ready because Auburn will depend on Stidham and his passing game. They need to force turnovers and keep the receivers covered. I expect Georgia’s defense to look outstanding against this Auburn team and expect them to get in the backfield a lot.

SL’s Score Prediction

Georgia should handle its business on Saturday and defeat Auburn. The Bulldogs average 38.1 points a game and have held opponents on average to 16.4 points a game. If the defense can get off the field on third down and shut down Auburn’s passing game, the game will be over by the third quarter. No stupid mistakes, dumb penalties, or turnovers for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs cannot get caught up in this “trap game” and do their jobs.

Georgia makes the Tigers quit and defeat them 42-17.
