Hey gang. Back home from Athens.

And man oh man. What a day to be in the Classic City!

The stadium was full of red, and there were even more folks outside the stadium around it and the Student Center and  Bookstore. Downtown Athens was Hop’n too.

Today’s G-Day very much had the feel of an opening kickoff home game to start the season. The players and coaches were so very thankful to the fans, and yes. The recruits that visited and their families were impressed big time.

We have a bunch of pictures from today. So pumped and excited! Go Dawgs!

  2. Reddawg13

The stadium was full and some folks told us that finally the gate keepers started turning folks away because the stadium was full! Bam! Leggo!

  3. 66DAWGnNC

PTCDawg WillieWalden Now everybody knows the back-up QB is the best player on the team###. At least he is the most popular until he gets his chance to prove why he is no. 2.

  4. Jay212033

I talked to a few of them and they were blown away! I think we’ll see a few commits soon!

  5. DawgByte

Jay212033 We witnessed history and it felt like it. I can’t even imagine what the recruits were thinking. Hopefully, we get some more commits.

  6. DawgByte

Dawg4life89 You forgot the Dawg faithful didn’t show up and there were only 30K fans in the stands.###

  7. DawgByte

Hobnailboot aka RobG Look at his stats and compare them to Eason’s. That will tell you all you need to know. Lambert flat out doesn’t have it and never will. The pecking order coming out of G-Day needs to change.

Just got back from Athens. Wow, what a day!!! It was amazing to be in the stands looking around and seeing it slowly fill to the brim with eager Georgia fans. It really made me proud. Now if we can just get the 93K to stay for more than a quarter and a half. Argh that chaps my hiney.

    Impressions From G-Day:

A.) Clearly Jacob Eason was the best QB on the field – it wasn’t close and everyone knows it.
B.) I focused in on Ben Cleveland for most of the day. He got boat loads of PT and acquitted himself extremely well. I will be surprised if he RS. We need his size and strength.
C.) Kimbrough and Underwood (where did he come from) brought the wood today!
D.) McKenzie is a burner and will have a monster year for us if he stays healthy.
E.) Front 7 of our D needs to be more physical.
F.) Riley Ridley, Reggie Davis, Jackson Harris, Isaac Nauta, Stanley and Chigbu all had solid days.
G.) OL looks good on pass blocking, but they didn’t open up many holes in the running game. This was a problem in 2015 and I see it carrying over this year if changes aren’t made or players don’t step up.
    H.) Kicking game worries me.
I.) Kudos to Kirby and the staff for running the best organized and meaningful G-Day I’ve ever seen. This did not look like a first year head coach in action. Richt never got in huddles and was not that active with players during G-Day like Kirby was today. He was all over the place and very hands on. LOVE IT!!!

What a great day to be in Athens… postcard perfect. Sorry I didn’t make it over to the booth to see you guys. Ended up traveling with a bunch of folks and the timing wasn’t right.

  9. PTCDawg

Hobnailboot aka RobG PTCDawg WillieWalden decent game manager…may be exactly what they need for those first 5 games… or maybe not

  10. Hobnailboot aka RobG

PTCDawg WillieWalden  as long as Lambert wins I’ll support him…BUT…it is hard to support someone that is not fun to watch, and Lambert is not a playmaker, he is a decent game manager

  11. PTCDawg

WillieWalden and I would still be very surprised if Lambert is not the starter for UNC…but so far Kirby has not given me any hints either…
whoever it is I hope the fanbase gets behind him and supports the starter without complaining about how it should be somebody else… hahahahahahahaha….like that would ever happen

  12. WillieWalden

Yeah.. I admire the staff for giving this young man every opportunity to be the starting qb but I just don’t see it.. Out of all the qbs I seen today .. He looked the most timid in the pocket and still throws head scratchers.. Lambert imho is a decent backup option but not a starter in the sec.. if it was me I would take the remaining time prepping Ramsey and Eason for game one .. Just my opinion.. I trust the staff who sees them on a daily basis

  13. Jesse1

GaSoldier Even in tight coverage, the wideouts were pulling in some balls. And turning on the burners.

  14. Hobnailboot aka RobG

My son sent me a text after Lambert threw that int to Davis and said “Lambert looked like a 3rd string QB for an online University”….lol

  15. Jesse1

WillieWalden Better yet is having a quarterback, and sometimes two, capable of finding 2nd and 3rd options. The route trees are sick compared to last year. Guys open in space, sometimes Eason and Ramsey had to choose who.

  16. GaSoldier

Believe it or not WR looked decent. Chig, Stanely (surprise) and Ridley looked good. We know what Godwin can do

  17. PatriotVeteran

CLTDawg BahitsDawg PTCDawg DawgDaddy rugbydawg79     Lambert played okay, but he doesn’t look any different than last year and that’s not good enough.      Brice has improved but IMO – the man that will continue to improve and win the starting job is Jacob.     For being his first big chance to shine, I think he did it.   We all know and it’s been stated over and over, he will have to grow and will make mistakes and that has to be expected.     By September, he’ll be ready to hopefully start.

  18. PatriotVeteran

BahitsDawg PTCDawg rugbydawg79     Give CKS and staff a little more time and both OL-DL’s will be ready to rock and load in September.   GO DAWGS        Hope the Recruits will start COMMITTING TO THE G – so our coaches can spend more time with the current players and get them ready to WIN GAMES.

  19. PatriotVeteran

PTCDawg    TE Harris, Nauta and WR Rigley looked damm good too.     Coming this summer is Hardman, Holyfield and hopefully, DRob.        UGA looked good today and this summer, they will perfect their skills.      2016 is going to be fun and the FAN base looks ready for some football.   GO DAWGS
