Greg Poole Brooklyndawg Kirby clearly says he has “eligibility concerns”. Who is he concerned about?  The “qualificaton” reference is clearly about Herrien’s situation.  Why the comment about feeling better when Sony is out there? Sony was out there all spring. Maybe he’s just saying he’s worried about Sony making it through fall practices without getting injured…but it sure sounds like there is a eligibility concern with a player. Either that or he misspoke…which I doubt.

  2. DawgByte

Lakedawg If the QB situation works out in Game 1 and Eason becomes the man. Then it could be a special year, particularly if Chubb is ready to go early and stays healthy. The D is going to have to step up big time though.

  3. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg36 and the only two times they won they went onto the national championship…go figure

  4. Bansai buckeroo

I didn’t say he had grade issues either. Read my comment above. Just said those are the kind of issues a head coach has to deal with…go back and read the thread.

  5. Greg Poole

Brooklyndawg – That is exactly why I hate articles that reply on the writer’s choice of documentary quotes.

Without video the paragraph lacks context:

“I don’t feel better until Nick Chubb is 100 percent healthy, and Sony (Michel) is out there,” Smart said. “We’re trying to do some things to help with the depth (signing Herrien) that we can’t talk about right now. But it just depends on how Chubb comes back, some eligibility concerns, and some guys trying to get qualified.”

One doesn’t know the question being responded to or any preceding or following comments.

  6. Bulldawg36

Wish we could play auburn 3 times this year…home..road..neutral! That would be all automatic wins baby!!! We own the barn! 8 of the last 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Greg Poole

Bansai buckeroo  That article didn’t say Sony has grade issues and I can not imagine that he does. They are trotting him out to public events. They would no do that if he had grade problems.

  8. Brooklyndawg

dsw61 Bansai buckeroo There is not ONE word linking Sony to any grade or eligibility issues in that piece. Where do you guys get stuff from?

  9. Brooklyndawg

Bulldawg36 I can’t resist!!!! You have a buddy, of 20 years, who’s a Clemson fan, who gives you crap about UGA and Smart and not having enough talent to win a championship, but he contradicts himself and makes you sick. What do you do when he really makes you mad?

  10. Bulldawg36

Sony don’t have any grade issues. That would be a shock. More of a shock than Rochester and clay shooting up the campus with a BB gun

  11. Lakedawg

That not good enough my friend, we will be favored in every all game except one, so can not have that many upsets.i

  12. Bansai buckeroo

@Rummy….I didn’t think he had grade issues…news to me. But these are the things you have to deal with as a head coach and don’t let it freak you out…

  13. RumRunnerDoogie

dsw61 Bansai buckeroo i dont think sony will have grade issues, wasnt he a honors student?

  14. Bansai buckeroo

Kirby needs to realize he is not going to have the depth he had at Bama….at least not for a while. Hope he doesn’t use it for an excuse.

  15. dsw61

Bansai buckeroo Wow, don’t like the sound of Kirby’s comments. The Sony being on the field comment followed by the eligibility comment, makes me real nervous.

  16. Bulldawg36

But then he said that we didn’t have enough talent to win a championship. That’s kind of contradicting himself! Clemson fans make me sick!!!!!!!!!

  17. dsw61

Bulldawg36 I think 9-3 is very possible; and 10-2 isn’t out of the question…barring injuries to key players.

  18. Bulldawg36

Yep. Especially if the 4 losses are to Tennessee…Fla…SC or unc….and auburn

  19. Bulldawg36

I’ll give em till the sc game…lose that one then you’re fired!!!!!!### naw 8-4 is usually the norm for first year UGA coaches I think.

  20. Bulldawg36

My buddy of 20 years who is a Clemson fan texted me earlier and said if Kirby doesn’t go 10-2 this year then he will be fired!!!! Hahahahahahaha goodnight!!! How delusional!!!!

  21. Bulldawg36

No matter how lambert finishes his career here at UGA. He will always have a dear place in my heart for killing the chickens and setting a NCAA record vs them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. DawgByte

MMCSDAWG DawgByte Bulldawg36 I think Wynn locks down the LT position. They need someone on that side with SEC experience. He doesn’t have ideal size, but he’s athletic.

Honestly, I can see Pittman experimenting throughout the season if he doesn’t get the type of play out of the starting 5.

  23. ZippyMorocco

    MMCSDAWG DawgByte Brooklyndawg Greg Poole
Some of us need to unwad their panties.

  24. MMCSDAWG

RumRunnerDoogie DawgLink Believe we all were!  Hope things change for the better soon!

  25. MMCSDAWG

DawgByte Bulldawg36 Who’s going to play LT?  Think Wynn keeps it?  I do, I think Catalina does get the RT spot and Pyke slides back inside with Simms on the other side and Kubs in the middle!

  26. DawgByte

Bulldawg36 Not in the prediction game, but I think he’ll seal the deal and take over the RT position.

  27. DawgByte

Greg Poole I’m very concerned about the D-Line… potentially the weakest unit on the team IMO.

  28. DawgLink

She was sent to Sheperd’s Clinic for brain injury. She graduated last week. Nice of UGA to do that. No word on her condition but seems really bad

  29. RumRunnerDoogie

off topic but any news on that 4th UGA student from that accident a week or so ago?

    Thanks for the update.
I guess at this point if he’s approved it will be icing on the cake.  However I guess I will not hold my breath.  🙁

  32. Greg Poole

Score Check  He had to answer on of the at least one of the deadly questions with a ‘yes’. My guess he could be well into June before he gets an answer.

  33. Greg Poole

RumRunnerDoogie Those arms and shoulders look like he has been in the weight room though

  34. Score Check

Does anyone know what’s up with 2016 Recruit Mykelle McDaniel?  Everyone and his brother offered him.
Its my understanding he will be UGA bound if the NCAA clears his transcript.  I think he was homeschooled.
Supposedly about a month ago (as memory serves) he was expecting the NCAA to approve his transcript very soon.

  35. Bulldawg36

    Gooooooo Georgia Bulldawgs baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  36. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole MMCSDAWG dsw61 with that hair it looks like he should be on the fresh prince of bel aire

  37. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole RumRunnerDoogie knowing him he will probably so a mexican restaurant, seems to be all he eats haha

  38. Greg Poole

DawgDaddy Gray has been around for years. If memory serves he is a Missy State fan.

  39. dsw61

RumRunnerDoogie Bulldawg36 Living in Georgia I got to watch the McEachern HS games that were televised. Simmons is very fast. He’s also very stout and has a college ready body type.

  40. Bansai buckeroo

I’m sure the wife is scoping it out. She said she found a good Chinese restaurant in China town to take the kids. Just thought I would check with the Dawgnation. We have people all over the country after all… 🙂

  41. MMCSDAWG

Bansai buckeroo Well, your right around the corner from Fisherman’s wharf, so you can’t go wrong with the fresh catch! lol!  Good luck on those Grand kids!

  42. Bansai buckeroo

Grand Kids are a touchy subject. Trying to not push too hard…haha. Probably will not go that far. We were in Carmel about 5 years ago and have a nephew in Montery we visited.

  43. MMCSDAWG

Bansai buckeroo Not food, but if you haven’t already, take HWY1 (Pacific coast Hwy) south out of Pacifica all the way down to Monterey and the Carmel bay area!  One of the most scenic drives in the whole world!

Tell your kids to get busy on giving you some grand kids!  My oldest graduates Kindergarten Tues night!

  44. Greg Poole

Bansai buckeroo  I used to spend time in San Francisco. My sister lived there for 10 years. I really like it but it has been while since my last visit, so no help from me.

  45. Bansai buckeroo

Yeah me either. Wasn’t he moving to Houston or am I thinking of someone else?

  46. Bansai buckeroo

Wish I had some grand kids…..haha. Taking my kids and their significant others out for a little vacation. My sister in law has a place there and she said we could use it for the month while they were out of country. My wife has been out there for a week already. She is having a couple of friends out before me and the kids arrive.

  47. RumRunnerDoogie

Bansai buckeroo web might know of some places, havent seen him in a while tho

  48. MMCSDAWG

Bansai buckeroo Going out to visit some grand kids or strictly vacation?   Great place to visit, but you would never catch me living out there!

  49. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole I have always like this kid!  He seems like the kind of kid that will get in there and do whatever it takes to crack the rotation.  I know from all the interactions last year during recruiting he is a smart kid and that’s a definite plus and probably why he’s being selected to play center!

  50. Bansai buckeroo

OT: For any west coast dawgs out there or anyone else…. I will be headed to San Fran on Saturday for 2 weeks. I am looking for restaurant recommendations. Staying in the Pacific Heights area close to the Presidio……

  51. MMCSDAWG

RumRunnerDoogie Bulldawg36 Bama really wanted him for a good reason!  kid has speed as well as ball skills!

  52. MMCSDAWG

DawgByte Brooklyndawg Greg Poole MMCSDAWG I’m not drinking koolaid and I agree with both you and Brookly about being cautious in any optimism.  My analysis of the UNC game is based on statistics and performance on the field.  Any team that can give up the kind of yardage they did last year on the ground is going to have a Really hard time stopping an SEC team who has finished in the top three in rushing for the last 5-6 seasons.   The ability of UGA to run the ball against UNC will dictate time of possession, field position and most importantly the ability to open up the field as the game progresses.  I believe this will force UNC in to trying to play catch up and hurry up, Now will our defense be able to stop them?  I have my concerns in the area as well, but I just believe based on looking at their stats from last year combined with ours, we stand a pretty darn good chance of beating them!  There weaknesses play well into our strengths both offensively and defensively!

Now, pass me another jar of that Dawg Shine!!! ###

  53. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg36 didnt even know simmons was fast, thought his 40 time on 247 was like a 4.6…guess those arent always right

  54. RobDawg

Yes I bet we will see a social media video in coming months. They will have to prove to themselves is my guess

  55. Bulldawg36

i would like to see these guys race!!! Simmons..hardman and Reggie Davis and mcgenzie!!! Call me crazy but my money would be on Simmons!!!!!

  56. DawgByte

Brooklyndawg DawgByte Greg Poole I agreed with you on the Kool-Aid drinking. Just can’t do it any more. Much safer and more meaning to turn the hype into on field action and converting that into W’s.

Having said the above, I’m very excited about this coaching staff and our new head man. Kirby has been extremely impressive thus far in his leadership skills.

  57. Brooklyndawg

RobDawg Nah, I’m done. Some people just have to go and try something, happens all the time. Just a Monday anything anti-negativity trolling.

  58. Brooklyndawg

DawgByte Greg Poole Kind of what I alluded to below (but you summed it up much better), which was taken exception to, for some reason. Probably pee in his cheerios, seemed like.

  59. Brooklyndawg

Bulldawg36 Just kidding with you, guy!## Neither of us will ever pass Chinese style stir-fried frog past our lips.

  60. DawgByte

Bulldawg36 Working like a Dawg, but when the 5 O’Clock whistle blows I’ll be on vacation for the rest of the week. Heading to Viva Las Vegas, baby!!!

  61. Brooklyndawg

PTCDawg Are you some sort of self-appointed BI thought police, PTC? For your information, this site is still a courteous and family-friendly , AND freedom-of-expression site, and it if bothers you for me to say I’m not a Kool Aid drinker this early in the year, because I feel more pragmatic about the unprovens, that’s my right. You don’t like it, don’t read my posts! You think I’m being too negative and that’s some sort of blank check, that’s you who has an attitude problem and chip on his shoulder, not me. When the dawgs take the field and rough spots are sorted out, I’m cheering along with everyone else.

  62. DawgByte

Brooklyndawg Greg Poole MMCSDAWG I hear ya bro. I’m never drinking pre-season Kool-Aid again. Been burned too many times!!!

  63. DawgByte

Greg Poole Agree… huge assumption… just like those assumptions that Eason will start against UNC.

  64. DawgByte

Greg Poole I like our ranking and think it’s a good guess.

I was listening to Buck & Kincaide on my way home from work today and they wanted to see how many Georgia fans believe we should win the SEC East this year given the schedule, new coaching staff and existing talent. They used last years Florida team as justification for this expectation.

If I were so inclined to call into the show, I’d say I’m not buying that bandwagon. There’s just way too many important variables at play in 2016; including but not limited to, uncertainty across the OL, our QB situation, questions around Chubb’s return, our thin DL, ILB’s and major issues regarding the Special Team kickers.

  65. Bulldawg36

Because I don’t like anybody bad mouthing UGA by saying a worthless chicken team with no talent will upset us.

  66. PTCDawg

Brooklyndawg Greg Poole MMCSDAWG How does taking a negative view make one ‘pragmatic’? Its like using that word gives one a blank check to say anything negative they want and make it sound like they are just too darn wise to be optimistic.

  67. Bulldawg36

Well thanks ole buddy pal I think. ####. I was near Atlanta as well I was at Johns creek. You should of tried the stir fried frog. Lol

  68. Bulldawg36

Washington….Stanford and UCLA shouldn’t be ranked ahead of us!!!!! I’m mad as fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  69. Frankly

    Bulldawg36
But why would you get ticked off by predictions months before the actual games.  Its a total guessing game at this point.   And you know what they say opinions are comparable to….

  70. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole LOL!!!   I still see more than 100 days on that count down calendar up above…  No telling where this one falls out, but I would take the under on Washington as the Pac-12 champion!

  71. MMCSDAWG

Bansai buckeroo I like it!  We were his first offer and that means a lot to these kids now a days! Get him and Owen Pappoe (sp) and we are …….  in tall cotton!

  72. Brooklyndawg

MMCSDAWG Bansai buckeroo His family and his hopes and dreams were a problem for UGA, if you can call it that, but all of this BS is traceable to the stinking media and their insatiatioble need to regurgite and regurgitate the same crap, over and over again. This same interview has been on the internet for at least a week, and now Weiszer at OnlineAthens, the internet version of our rag of a newspaper, repeated it ad nauseum this morning.

  73. Greg Poole

  74. Brooklyndawg

Greg Poole MMCSDAWG Meh, I’l wait to see who starts at QB, and who is effective behind our O-line. I will never be a kool aid drinker. I’m an older, very pragmatic person

  75. rugbydawg79

Bulldawg36 USA Rugby 7’s  he would be a great Rugby player- get a Gold Medal !

  76. DawgLink

The kid in the Dawgnation article from Upson Lee. Dang he’s gonna be a monster. 15 and 6’4″ and 246.

  77. MMCSDAWG

Bansai buckeroo I know…  if had chose UGA at the Hall of fame, I would have been ok with it.  But now, it is obvious to almost anyone concerned there is way too much drama and distraction surrounding him.  I hope he gets out to Cali and becomes his own man and does great things!  I don’t wish ill on Drob at all and i sincerely hope he is able to achieve “His” goals whatever they may be!

  78. DawgDaddy

Bansai buckeroo Did not make me mad Bb, with everything I have seen with this kid and his family there is major baggage with him.  Like MMCS said in his example, the kid is probably a good kid but man had he had some heavy family involvement and not in a good way either.

  79. Brooklyndawg

Bulldawg36 Take my word for it, I never think of you except when I see you gesticulating on BI, but this weekend was different. My wife and I were in Atlanta and we ended up eating brunch at our favorite Chinese restaurant in Chamblee. They had posters all over the place hawking a new special, “Stir-fried frog with spicy black bean sauce” (uugghh, the thought make me want to puke). This is not a joke! It sounded like a Bulgarian-Pelzer new age fusion, with southern accents.

  80. DawgDaddy

Greg Poole Makes me sick all except UGA have a MNC.  Of course auburn had to allow a known thief come in and play.  No way they make it without him (and some good luck to boot).

  81. Bansai buckeroo

@Chief….probably made some people mad with my comment but it’s just time to move on..

  82. haws1178

I seen some quickness this past spring game in Douglas that was not there before so maybe he has already stepped up

  83. Bulldawg36

Sc stinks!!! I hate em!!!! Kirby needs to show his buddy Will..that he is the better coach by stomping his tail in Columbia..the worlds largest outdoor trailer park

  84. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole DawgDaddy yea they had a great D just a couple years ago and they all graduated

  85. Greg Poole

DawgDaddy I was talking to a buddy who is a USCe supporter this morning. He always throws some clucks into the convo but I got him to admit that even if Boom! has learned all the lessons of his FU experience, they are still two recruiting classes from decent.

  86. DawgDaddy

Bulldawg36 I really don’t think either can beat us, but if one did it would not be scu.

  87. Greg Poole

MMCSDAWG I do not disagree if UGA enters the game with most of the running backs healthy.

  88. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole I like the score prediction…  40-20!!!  Heck yeah!  Seriously, I know some people have said they think Chizek is a great DC and how he has improved UNC, but I challenge anyone that feels that way to explain to me how good he is when UNC gave up 279 rushing yards to Delaware, 327 rushing to Duke, 308 to NC State, 319 to Clemson, and 645 to Baylor…  Baylor was on their 3rd or 4th string QB and they gave up 645 yards rushing.  I believe we pound them into submission in the first half and run away in the second!

  89. dsw61

I’m really impressed with Dameon Pierce’s highlight video. Can’t quite put my finger on it, but to my eyes there is something different about how he runs. Maybe it’s the fact that a lot of his highlights include runs where the defense is actually getting their hands on him instead of a bunch of runs of him running fast untouched through Swiss cheese defenses.

  90. Bulldawg36

I do just to get ticked I guess. Lol. Still no way we get beat by both schools- they can keep on dreaming

  91. Bulldawg36

SDS said that both Carolinas will upset the dawgs!!!! I hate that website!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  92. Greg Poole

BahitsAgain It was a couple of hours. When talking to one of the tech he alluded to a DOS attack. They might have taken some servers off-line it that is what was going on. Anyway, it was not long and they answered the phone quickly.

  93. MMCSDAWG

Bansai buckeroo With you buck…  I made the mistake one time of taking a kid on my team that was a GREAT athlete.  it only took me five minutes of running him through some drills to know he was elite.  Unfortunately, the baggage that came along with him with respect to his father and uncle were totally unbearable.  The kid was actually not a bad kid at all, but the circus that surrounded him was a distraction to our team and eventually became physical and I had to remove the kid from the team due to his Idiot parent/guardian.

  94. MMCSDAWG

BahitsAgain Greg Poole godawgs678 Douglas future might be in coaching, kids like him seem to make great assistants and eventually could become a good HC.

  95. BahitsAgain

Greg Poole godawgs678 I think Douglas would love to be a starter, but he is ok with his role.  Help out, be their if needed, get a degree, enjoy the experience, know you have life time, invaluable connections.

  96. BahitsAgain

Greg Poole ZippyMorocco told you to go with Microsoft Azure.  lol

These guys you picked look to be doing pretty good.  It wasn’t down very long, was it?

  97. BahitsAgain

    Greg Poole lol

I think many lawyers just sit around trying to figure out how to screw with people.

  98. Greg Poole

godawgs678  Absolutely. I really like the look of this kid. Douglas better step it up.

  99. Greg Poole

ZippyMorocco  First real outage when have had with the new company. Not that it helps, but it was a widespread outage for them.

  100. BenKellam

godawgs678 Im awful at analyzing high school highlights but watching that kid run was impressive. It seems like hes got really good balance. No one could bring him down with the first contact. He didnt look blazing fast but he ran over a good amount of people.

  101. godawgs678

So I finally watched Herrien’s highlights. All I can say is…Unbelievable. If he had the grades in order sooners, there is no doubt he would have held multiple SEC offers. PUMPED about this kid.

  102. Bansai buckeroo

The young man has no respect for the process or the institutions involved….personally I wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole….jmo

  103. Brooklyndawg

Bansai buckeroo Third, and passed. Why are we continuously bombarded with this nonsense, yet we don’t have to hear how ND and Alabama are continuing to reach out? Was it a that big a sting to UGA. Beyond tiring….NO MAS!!!!!
