@dawgbyte however, being qb in high school gives one greater perspective on offense. ultimately it depends on the player and our coaches seem to like akers so i put him, but my feeling in pouring the list together is that rb is where we are least likely to meet our needs and that is worrisome in a position of high need.

  2. CLTDawg

RumRunnerDoogie CLTDawg Jags defense could look really nasty, really fast. They signed that D lineman from Denver, they’ll be getting last year’s first round pick who missed the season with a knee, Dante Fowler, potentially Josh Norman…and all the rumors are they are targeting one of my favorite players in this year’s draft Myles Jack out of UCLA. That is a shot in the arm for Gus Bradley’s defense right there.

  3. CLTDawg

RumRunnerDoogie CLTDawg Jags have the most cap space in the league right now at close to 53 mil. If it turns into a bidding war, they’ll land him. 49ers are very close behind that, though.

  4. RumRunnerDoogie

CLTDawg RumRunnerDoogie idk how much cap space they have, u know who signs him will have to put up a huge contract

  5. CLTDawg

Backwudz CLTDawg I know that, but he’s small for a D end too, especially in Kirby’s scheme where he’s going to be asked to set the edge.

  6. RumRunnerDoogie

websater RumRunnerDoogie if he get him vols will hate smart even more than before lol

  7. WillieWalden

I would substitute Aj Terrell for Gibbs or put Gibbs at wr.. Brian Robinson for Akers.. I too like true running backs over converted qbs..

  8. DawgByte

BahitsDawg After this picture was taken the quickly changed their names to ‘ The Pickle Smokers’.

  9. DawgByte

Avon Barksdale My two biggest areas of concern behind the QB position are our trenches on both sides. More specifically I’m concerned about the size/strength of the DL. I don’t think TT is All SEC material yet. He’s got the potential and one of the quickest moves to the backfield I’ve seen in a while, but he’s got to demonstrate consistency. He needs to listen to Rocker and want it.

  10. DawgByte

MidtownTeacher Great list! I would prefer Toneil Carter over Cam Akers, because Carter is true RB and not a converted QB. I’d put Trey Sermon right there as well.

  11. MidtownTeacher

Been awhile since I put together a wish list, but with Smart at the help and so much hype for Georgia, I think we can think big again and so here is a 2017 wish list:

    Offense
    Quarterback
Jake Fromm – better than Lambert or Ramsey.  Surprised coaches could get him with Eason

    Running Back
    Cam Akers
    D’Andre Swift

    Wide Receiver
    Nico Collins
    Jeremiah Holloman

    Tight End
    No one

    Offensive Line
    Netori Johnson
    Justin Shaffer
    D’Antne Demery
    Tony Gray
    Andrew Thomas

    Defense

    Corner Back
    William Poole

    DeAngelo Gibbs

    Safety
    Richard Lecounte
    Jacoby Stevens

    Linebacker
    Nate McBride
    Will Ignont
    Jaden Hunter
    Breon Dixon
Dylan Moses – not currently an option, but I think with a good season

    Defensive Tackle
    Aubrey Solomon

    Defensive End
    Robert Beal
    Malik Herring
    Markaviest Bryant

That is 24.  I hear we will take more than that for 2017, but this is a darn good class right here.  No Jacob Eason star, but a very solid overall class.

  12. Backwudz

CLTDawg Backwudz Didn’t appear that way to me, everyone gets pushed a couple of plays. Seems as if Ledbetter’s size is perfect for the position. He is not the DT or the Nose

  13. WillieWalden

Sermon to Oklahoma??? Where did that come from.. Could be a good sign on some other backs..

  14. MMCSDAWG

BenKellam MMCSDAWG Pretty sure we are both right and I’m glad it doesn’t mean Tech!  lol!   The GT on the mustang stands for Grand Touring or Grand Tourismo…  I was the proud owner of Ford’s first GT specific model Mustang, the 1965 Mustang GT- which came with the 289 HP V-8 and the GT package which include a 5-dial instrument panel and true dual exhaust.   Hope you find what your looking for!

    Some GHSA legislation passed:
    2. Proposal to reinstate Slow Pitch Softball as a varsity-only, state-championship sport to be played in the spring with four (4) designated Areas, beginning in the Spring of 2017. Note: Girls could play both slow pitch and fast pitch for their schools. MOTION PASSED (Roll Call Vote #1 – Yes: 34 , No: 24) Yes: Horton, Suttle, Jones, Hunter, Maynard, Masters, Etheridge, Miller, Breedlove, Corr, Stringer, Tootle, Marchman, Adams, Wood, Pollock, Fields, Thompson, Arnold, Barron, Warren, Hughes, Pinson, Crews, Ingle, Simpson, Drew, Blenke, Colvard, Taylor, Dowling, T. Rogers, White, Williams. No: Giddens, Hoffman, Turner, Long, McCrary, Finch, May, Brooks, Dunson, Campbell, Jewell, Byrnes, Potts, Cooper, Lancaster, Mobley, B. Rogers, Vick, Tidwell, Queen, Dupree, Bradley, Fine, Norwood.
    3. Proposal to add new item “7” to By-Law 2.62 on page 36 to read as follows (modified from original by subcommittee): Drones shall not be permitted to fly during any GHSA sanctioned contest. MOTION PASSED (unanimously)
     4. Proposal to revise By-Law 2.62 on page 36 to allow GHSA schools to play GISA and GICAA member schools provided there is a written Cross-Play contract used and providing the GISA and GICAA schools comply with all GHSA safety rules and requirements. Such competition shall not count towards GHSA post-season qualification nor GHSA power ratings. (Addendum #1) MOTION PASSED (unanimously)

  16. WillieWalden

You’re probably right but the games I saw him play.. I find it hard to fathom that’s he’s better on defense than offense.. Dude is seriously as explosive as Antonio brown from the steelers or has that type of potential.. I get the size thing but every now and then there’s an exception to the rule and I think he is .. He’s a player that you will have to double every play and couple that with a strong running game and other elite talent around him and it’s scary.. I think coaches from other teams are hoping he ends up on defense because I know they don’t wanna have to game plan for this guy on offense

  17. CLTDawg

Backwudz I dunno…Ledbetter was getting pushed around pretty good at GDay. Still looks small.

  18. Brooklyndawg

BenKellam Ditto on the 3.5″, can’t find anything larger on the internet, including Amazon.

  19. Backwudz

Greg Poole Glad for the kid but I thought it would have been the Ohio State transfer from the Atlanta Metro…

  20. MMCSDAWG

    Avon Barksdale  Ok, I’m back…

The DL and our front 7 overall is a concern for me.  I know we have some very talented young players currently on the roster and a few more coming in June.  Unfortunately, we don’t have a ton of game experience in our front 7, which included our LB’s.  Adding to this concern is the fact that Rivers will be out for a minimum of 3 more games, Rochester is looking at a couple of games as well.  Keeping that in mind,  We need DEPTH…  it concerns me that both hawkins and Barnett had to miss a large portion of the spring with MCL strains.  Are they going to be able to withstand the rigors of an SEC schedule for 12 games?  Yes, I agree it is much easier to crack the starting rotation as a DL vice an OL, but I will also say that we all saw what Big Trent did last year and he was at the very top of the food chain…  He did well, but he also missed some assignments and was injured during the season.  My point is this, We will be relying on true freshman and sophomores to man our 2 deep on the DL, what happens if one of our top 2 or 3 go down with injury?   T. Rocker is definitely going to earn his keep this year.  I will say that our LB’s do have the potential to be much better than in the past, I am very pleased with how the Linebacking corp is coming along and there does seem to be a little more depth there.  I was also pleased with the way J. Young played on Saturday, so that might alleviate a little depth problem, but it’s still there and we are only an injury or 2 away from being in serious trouble, IMO.  I hope I’m wrong and I hope our defense is able to stop the run effectively against our SEC competition without having to drop 8-9 in the box!  It just concerns me!

  21. BenKellam

Anyone know where I can get one of those metal Georgia G emblems for my car? I want to replace the GT emblem on the back of my car with one. Its gotta be like 5 inches wide to cover the holes from the stock emblem. The biggest I can find is like 3.5 inches wide.

  22. BenKellam

Greg Poole Bulldawg36 I’m glad swann made a team but couldn’t it have been literally any other one?

  23. Backwudz

I don’t normally run with a small portion of a staement but Kirby states “I hope he gets to do what he wants to do.” On the new dawgnation article,. I feel like it’s a longer JHC (Josh Harvey) recruitment all over again.

  24. Bulldawg36

Hawkins…Atkins and Thompson will be good to great players for us this year. We will see about the rest. Rocker will definitely earn his money this year

  25. dsw61

BahitsDawg Bulldawg Bob2 WillieWalden I thought Hardman and Drob looked very different retuning kicks in the Army AS game. Not saying one was better than the other, just different. Drob looked smoother…like he was gliding. Drob definitely caught my attention.

  26. Greg Poole

Avon Barksdale  All of those question will have wait and see answers, but DL is much easier to step into  as a youngster than OL.

    BTW loved The Wire

  27. ZippyMorocco

    Greg Poole MMCSDAWG
I have a Samsung droid. I was using it yesterday morning, and new posts aren’t shown at the bottom.

  28. ZippyMorocco

    Avon Barksdale
I’m not as concerned as some about the D line, except for the 1st game with the suspensions.

  29. MMCSDAWG

Avon Barksdale I am about to head out for lunch, but will expound more later…  Like i said Yesterday though, DL is my biggest concern for 2016.  You hit on almost all of my concerns as well.  We have seen what has happened the last couple of years when we have played against a good power running team.

  30. Avon Barksdale

What is everyone’s feeling about the D-Line. We’re so young! In 2017 we should be dominant but what are your expectations for this year?
Is Trent ready to take that next step? Is he All-SEC this year? How about Barnett and Hawkins? How good will they be? Ledbetter. Young. Who steps up? Which freshmen step up and give us quality depth? Who’s the leader on the line?
Are Bellamy and LoCarter ready to step up? Is either of them All-SEC caliber? Gonna miss Jenkins and Floyd but I gotta admit our pass rush was a bit of a disappointment last year. D’Andre Walker looked like a beast on G-Day! Is he big enough to be a 3-down player for us? Is Chauncey Manac going to contribute? What do you guys think?
I feel if our D-Line plays well our defense could be very very good!

  31. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole MMCSDAWG Gotcha boss…  It definitely doesn’t crash or lag, but it’s hard for an old man to keep up! lol.  Thanks

  32. Avon Barksdale

I think of Mecole as Brandon Boykin Jr. Let him play corner, special teams, and maybe a couple touches on offense. Can’t wait to see what he can do!

  33. Greg Poole

MMCSDAWG  Don’t think are on the mobile version. That is part of keeping it lightweight. The trade-off is fewer feature or crash phones and tabs? LF opts for usability since, by far, most website posts do not get over 200 comments per hour.

  34. BahitsDawg

The reason that BD36 hate vaping is because it reminds him of his days on stage with his band.

  35. CLTDawg

Greg Poole Score Check DawgLink Doesn’t look to be a high budget production, lol, so I doubt it’s a CGI football. Haha that was impressive!

  36. CLTDawg

websater Good player. Right now, we’re just Markavier than most people…but soon, we’ll be the Markaviest!

  37. CLTDawg

Greg Poole His agent has done a great job, and his combine helped a lot. I like Leonard, and I want him to do well in the league, but it’s blown me away how he’s been recast as this jack of all trades kind of player who can cover tight ends and slot receivers in the NFL…what little he did of that in college he did at about an average clip…what he’s undeniably good at is pass rush, but all of the draft talk has him going top 15 now because of his versatility, which he didn’t show a ton of in Athens.

  38. CLTDawg

ronaldo77 Bulldawg Bob2 WillieWalden Remember though, the only reason Malcolm switched back was because of injuries to the receiving corps. He was coming along fine as a corner, and some NFL teams have still looked at him as a DB.

  39. BahitsDawg

ronaldo77 Bulldawg Bob2 WillieWalden It seems much easier for a DB to take a few offensive snaps rather than a WR trying to do the specialty craft of DB.

  40. CLTDawg

WillieWalden He’ll play mostly defense, but he’s too good with the ball in his hands to not let him get a couple of plays on offense each game. Doesn’t take away too much from his focus, it’s just another play or two to remember.

  41. BahitsDawg

Bulldawg Bob2 WillieWalden It was either him or Drob that looked freaky good returning kicks in the Army All Star game.

  42. WillieWalden

I guess I’m a little old fashioned .. He’s such a great talent I would rather see him totally dedicate to a specific job and be special at that before hopping around to a little bit of this and that.. I fully support whatever the coaches decide to do and hope it works out .. Just don’t wanna see him end up spreading himself too thin

  43. ronaldo77

Bulldawg Bob2 WillieWalden But you could say it hurt Malcolm when he was trying to do it, and Samuel switching back and forth hurt him as well. Just playing the other side here 🙂

  44. godawgs678

Bulldawg Bob2 WillieWalden I think we’re all still paranoid because of B Smith and Richard Samuel

  45. Bulldawg Bob2

WillieWalden  The staff will evaluate him and hopefully put him in the best spot to succeed and grow.  I expect that to be on defense in the secondary, and like Boykin just a few short years ago, he’ll get an opportunity at some offensive plays.

And I agree. I think Hardman will be a threat on special teams as a returner.

  46. websater

WillieWalden I think Mecole Hardman can be used in the same vein as Adoree Jackson from USC. Adoree is a shutdown CB, but gets 8-10 offensive snaps a game and is dynamic.

  47. godawgs678

Bulldawg Bob2 Thanks Bob! I remember at one point we were on commit watch and then it just seemed like he vanished.

  48. WillieWalden

I seen mecole hardmans comments yesterday about playing a little of everything.. I hope we find him a position and let him concentrate on being dominant at that position instead of moving him around.. I personally want to see him on offense at receiver but if he’s gonna play defense.. Put him there and let him master his craft.. Special teams is a given .. Him in the return game with iMac should be special out the gate

  49. godawgs678

Whatever happened with that DL from the 2016 class that was waiting to qualify? Forgot his name. Are we still looking at him?

  50. Bulldawg Bob2

Bulldawg36  The usual. Mow grass, weed eat, sprayed weed killer on the pesky crab grass coming up between the tiles on the walkway, ect

  51. Bulldawg36

Im just soaking up the new vibe around the dawg nation as well. I believe the 17 class is about to take off, already the best one in the SEC

  52. Bulldawg36

Let’s just say their is a long story is to why I hate the stuff but i won’t share it on here. Lol

  53. MMCSDAWG

Bulldawg36 What’s up #36!   Ready to GATA and #ATD!  Like everyone else, there is a new and exciting vibe around our Dawgs and I’m lovin it!

  54. Bulldawg36

Man so many Elite recruits are looking our way. Maybe this thing is gonna get changed around quicker than we think. Lecounte is really doing good work for UGA on the recruiting trail

  55. MMCSDAWG

dawgmum Bulldawg Bob2 DawgLink Tell him Dawg nation is behind him and congrats on making the score!!

  56. dawgmum

Bulldawg Bob2 DawgLink I’ve been following this kid on Twitter. He knows what he has to do and is working hard at it. So excited he made score on that ACT!

  57. MMCSDAWG

Enjoyed the recruiting chat last night and thanks for all the info!  I only have one issue, I was trying to follow along on my phone Galaxy Android.  There was never any notification bar or popup for new comments, it seemed as though they just appeared wherever in the conversations…  Is there supposed to be a new comments popup or notification similar to the desktop version or do new comments in the mobile platform just appear in the conversation?  Thanks.

  58. Bulldawg36

Yep it’s a risk I’ll never take. But some people like it. To each is their own I guess. What kind of yard work did you do yesterday?

  59. Bulldawg Bob2

Bulldawg36  While it is probably still not good to inhale into one’s lungs, it is only steam aka water vapor coming out of those things

  60. Bulldawg Bob2

ZippyMorocco Greg Poole  5,000? That is only if they say it is a ComicCon convention instead of a Spring Game.

  61. Bulldawg Bob2

DawgLink  Soon, but he may wait till this last high school semester is over, which I believe finals for them are in May. He has the ACT, but now just has to clear with the course requirements and GPA. I do think he will commit in May though.

  62. websater

I have a feeling 4star markaviest bryant might be the next commitment for UGA. Alot of CBs rolling in.

  63. Score Check

    Greg Poole DawgLink
    Wow!!!
Surely it didn’t really catch the same ball he just threw.

  64. Reddawg13

ZippyMorocco Jesse1 Greg Poole heard he can pick his nose with chop sticks, so, we have to say….

  65. Reddawg13

Jesse1 ZippyMorocco Greg Poole well if we are going to have an old fashioned fist fight, we only need 5 of us to show up, it needs to be fair….

  66. Reddawg13

Greg Poole that would be epic and funny as hell! get there really early and fill ‘er up so that they have no seats. show up in yellow and take it off and have on red and start barking!

  67. Dawgnation4

Lets see who everyone thinks, who is our 10 (yes 10) silent commits mentioned by Poole:
    1. DROB
    2. Gibbs
    3. Mcbride
    4. Herring
    5, Sermon
    6. IDK
    7. IDK
    8. IDK
    9. IDK
    10. IDK

I cant really think of ten kids thats feeling UGA so much so they would be silent to us…

One of my sons friends’ father is a Yech grad. I told the boy that there were two kinds of Yech grads, nerds and chinese. He asked if I was calling his dad a nerd. I said no, he could be chinese.

  72. Jesse1

Greg Poole Yes he did. No other major Div 1  program in a state with 10,000,000. So yeah, UGA should be a dominant paradigm.

  73. Jesse1

Greg Poole Who knows these days. From my last tour of the aea, I’d venture that around 20% of the student body grew up in Mandarin 1st households, and another slew of em in Hindi and Farsi 1st. Hard to hate em like I used to. Can’t even cuss em in their native tongue.

  74. Jesse1

ZippyMorocco Greg Poole Unless we show up like packs of rabid Dawgs and put on a red out. Might be a couple of hundred good old fashioned fist fights. No, modern day Tech. The ATL Swat team would have to save em.

  75. Greg Poole

DawgLink  He still has to get his course grades this semester but he should commit soon.

  76. DawgLink

I saw a couple of posts saying that Herrien got the ACT grades to get into UGA. When does he commit?

  77. Greg Poole

Y’all have probably read about the Ludacris hospitality rider in his contract for Saturday’s performance. I suspect that is a boilerplate rider. The reason I say that is that his ‘dressing room’ was the men’s room normally used by media and stadium workers under the east endzone stands. It is far from lavish. I seriously doubt any meals were served there nor would he have much use for the condoms in that facility.
