Vegas odds on Georgia’s 2016 season are waiting to lure you to The Golden Nugget sports book.
For the novices in the crowd let’s take a moment to discuss how over/under betting works. The number is set by the house and is the focus of the bet. In the case of Georgia’s 2016 season, The Golden Nugget set the number at 8.5. Bettors have two betting options, placing money on the under is betting that the Dawgs win 8 games or less. Obviously, the other bet predicts UGA to win 9 or more. Easy money, right?
There is another factor to consider, the odds.
Georgia’s odds look like this – Georgia – 8.5 (-145/+125). The Nugget is offering an opportunity to bet that UGA will win more or fewer than 8.5 games, however, there is that -145/-125 to consider. If you take the under you must wager $145 to win $100 should the season record be 8-4 or worse. On the over side of the bet, $100 risked will return $125 with nine wins or more.
What do these odds tell us? The Golden Nugget is expecting considerably more money on the under and is making that bet less attractive by increasing the money odds.
