VIDEO: Kirby Smart’s Postgame Remarks

On the win over UMASS …

“I’m proud of the guys. We challenged them to play hard, to start fast, to play fast, and not mosey around. We got things rolling and did some big things. I was really proud of the focus. The guys played hard. … We’ve gotten a little better offensively and we’ll keep working on it. We need to get the playmakers the ball and peak at the right time. … We outmanned those guys. They played hard and competed, but we know it won’t be that way the rest of the season.”

On UMASS’ Andy Isabella …

“He’s a good wide-out, a really good player, and they showcase him. Playing good players always benefits you. They do a good job of moving him around, hiding him, and getting him the ball. Whoever winds up on him has got to cover him.”

On playing so many players …“It’s important for those guys to get in and play. They compete and do the things we need by working hard on the scout team. They’re great guys. It’s also great to see their teammates on the sideline cheering them on.”

On Georgia Tech …

“They have a way of peaking at the right time; they get better and better at the end of the year. When you play Tech, you have to have a fundamentally sound plan. It’s hard to explain how different it is for a defense. Their offense is unique. We’ll have to do a good job this week of focus, discipline and assignment. Your eyes have to be on the right thing. Everyone has a job to do. If not, a small play can become a big play and they expose you.”
