Opening Tip

No. 20 Georgia brings its six-game win streak into Sunday’s game against the Florida Gators in Gainesville, Fla. The contest is scheduled to air on SEC Network +.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated a top-25 team for the second time in three games with Thursday’s 62-50 victory against No. 11 Missouri. Georgia is off to its best start since the 2009-10 season and has won six consecutive league contests for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign.

This year’s team is a perfect 7-0 on the road — Georgia’s best start away from home since the 1994-95 NCAA Final Four team began the year 11-0 away from Stegeman Coliseum.

Georgia, which held the potent Missouri offense to its season low in points (50) and field goal percentage (27.6 percent), leads the SEC in field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to just 33.4 percent shooting this year.

The Lady Bulldogs have held 16 teams below 40-percent shooting from the field, owning a 16-0 record against those squads. During Joni Taylor’s tenure, Georgia is 21-0 when holding an opponent at or below 50 points.

Junior forward Caliya Robinson has recorded a double-double in four of the last five games. Robinson is the SEC’s blocked shots leader with 71 this season. As a team, the Lady Bulldogs have blocked a league-best 136 shots — a total that is fourth nationally.

Senior guard Haley Clark is coming off a career-high 14 point effort against Missouri. Clark has been one of Georgia’s top defenders this season and has scored in double figure against the Tigers and against Mississippi State.

Florida head coach Cameron Newbauer is a familiar name to Bulldog fans. From 2007-12, he was an assistant on Hall of Fame head coach Andy Landers’ staff after serving as a Director of Operations on the Georgia men’s basketball staff from 2005-07.
