WOMEN’S TENNIS: Georgia vs Michigan Friday in Round of 16

[su_spacer size=”20″] The sixth-seeded Georgia women’s tennis team will face No. 11 seeded Michigan in round of 16 NCAA Championships action at the Hurd Tennis Center on Friday at 1 p.m.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The Bulldogs (22-6) advanced to the round of 16 via a pair of 4-0 victories over Charleston Southern and No. 20 Duke in the first and second rounds last weekend. The Wolverines advanced with wins over Miami (Ohio) and DePaul.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia and Michigan have already met once this season with the Bulldogs coming out on top 4-1 in the first round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships (Charlottesville, Va.). Georgia won the doubles point with wins at courts 2 and 3 and senior Lauren Herring clinched the match on court 1. Sophomore Caroline Brinson and freshman Kennedy Shaffer also earned singles wins on the day.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The Bulldogs lead the Wolverines 3-0 in an all-time series that dates back to 1982. Friday’s showdown will mark the first time the two schools have met in the NCAA Championships.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The winner of the Georgia vs. Michigan match will advance to the quarterfinals to face the winner of the California (3) vs. Stanford (14) match that is also set to take place on Friday at 1 p.m. Should the Bulldogs win on Friday, the quarterfinal will take place on Sunday at 1 p.m.
