Three Potential Pickups

Georgia currently has eight commits for the 2019 recruiting class. The Bulldogs added Trezmen Marshall, a four-star Athlete from Clinch County. With his commitment, Georgia is No. 7 in the overall rankings and No. 3 in the SEC. It’s still fairly early in the 2019 recruiting cycle, however, these three guys could be the next additions. Again I don’t know exactly when these guys plan to commit to schools, but these are three guys who I believe will pull the trigger sooner than later. Like I do with my class predictions, I’ll rank on a scale of three the confidence of them picking Georgia.

Travon Walker

CLASS: 2019

POSITION: DT

HT, WT: 6-4, 255

SCHOOL: Upson-Lee High School

CITY, STATE: Thomaston, Georgia

STATUS: Undeclared

CONFIDENCE TO COMMIT: 3/3

NEWS:

Travon Walker is another hot commodity in the 2019 class. He’s the No. 25 overall prospect, No. 3 DT and the No. 5 prospect in Georgia and only holds 13 offers. According to his social media, he hasn’t released any top schools, however, he did in our interview. Walker told me that Clemson, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina are his final four, but none of them hold an advantage. He mentioned that his final school must have a good business or sports medicine program. Walker likes Tray Scott and thinks he’s a great coach. He says that Georgia contacts him on a daily basis and tell him he has the chance to make a big impact. Despite having a top-four, Georgia appears to be the leader, and as a homegrown kid, it wouldn’t surprise me for Kirby Smart and Scott to reel in this one.

Out of the three prospects I mention, he should pull the trigger next. Walker told me he talks to Nolan Smith every day. Smith is one of Georgia’s 2019 commits and a vocal recruiter for the Bulldogs. Walker seems to have a great relationship with him, so only time will tell if he chooses Georgia. I give him a 3/3 on the confidence scale because I think he’s made up his mind. He’s just waiting for the right moment to commit.

Warren McClendon

CLASS: 2019

POSITION: OL

HT, WT: 6-5, 290

SCHOOL: Brunswick High School

CITY, STATE: Brunswick, Georgia

STATUS: Undeclared

CONFIDENCE TO COMMIT: 2/3

NEWS:

Warren McClendon appears high on Georgia’s list for the offensive lineman in the 2019 class. McClendon’s recruitment seems to be between Georgia, South Carolina, and Alabama. He told me in an interview that South Carolina and Georgia are two of his official visits.  McClendon hasn’t released any top schools yet, but the three above seem to be it. He currently holds 22 offers and ranks as the No. 26 OT and the No. 28 prospect in Georgia.

McClendon received an invitation to the Opening finals in Texas after the recent Atlanta regional. The offensive tackle’s been all over the SEC the last few weeks. He recently visited Florida on April 6. Prior to that, he went to South Carolina on March 30. I expect him to visit Georgia soon if not in the next few weeks.  McClendon received a 2/3 on my scale. However, he does have ties to both Georgia and Sout Carolina. HIs uncle is former UGA running back Willie McClendon and his cousin Bryan McClendon is a former UGA wideout and now South Carolina assistant coach.  So this decision could go either way only time will tell if he stays home or goes outside the state.

Jaelin Humphries

CLASS: 2019

POSITION: DT

HT, WT: 6-3 303

SCHOOL: Mountain View High School

CITY, STATE: Lawrenceville, Georgia

STATUS: Undeclared

CONFIDENCE TO COMMIT: 2/3

NEWS:

Georgia’s biggest area of emphasis for the 2019 class is the defensive line. The Bulldogs already have one pledge with Bill Norton. However, now the concentration goes to defensive tackles. Jaelin Humphries fits the mold of a defensive tackle and is high on Georgia’s list. He’s a four-star and ranks as the No. 13 DT and the No. 23 player in Georgia. Humphries holds 23 offers and it appears to be between Georgia and South Carolina.

I expect him to visit Georgia this summer and commit by the end of the summer. Humphries is a big-time target and Georgia won’t let off until he commits. In my opinion, he’s one of the highest DT on the list for Georgia. However, I rank him a 2/3 because he hasn’t been back on campus in a while. If Georgia can get him to visit a few times, then the commitment will naturally happen.
