2023 Tight End Pearce Spurlin Commits to Georgia

2023 tight end Pearce Spurlin has committed to the University of Georgia.

2023 tight end Pearce Spurlin has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Georgia. The 6’6″ 210 pound prospect is a very skilled and versatile receiving tight end that now is a standout for South Walton High School in Florida. Last year however, Spurlin played his freshman year at Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia.

Pearce Spurlin burst onto the recruiting scene in July in a big way during his workouts with former Georgia great, and heralded trainer, Terrence Edwards. Spurlin also impressed evaluators and scouts across the country with impressive performances at prospect camps and combines in the early summer of 2020. Word spread quickly as the big bodied receiver turned developing tight end racked up 13 Power 5 offers in a matter of 43 days with UGA extending their offer on July 23rd.

Spurlin is the second commitment of the 2023 class for the Bulldogs. Fellow Sunshine State standout and Trinity Christian Academy running back Treyaun Webb has been committed to Georgia since November of 2019. As I written recently, the 2023 recruiting class is filled with prospects nationwide that comprise potentially the most talented in recent memory. Webb and Spurlin are both versatile athletes that are very capable receivers. Even though Todd Monken is not going to abandon the run game by any means, recruiting and gaining commitments from these types of players is an indication of a more dynamic offensive style under Todd Monken and Buster Faulkner.
