TODAY’S FEATURED PROSPECT

DJ Daniel

A little about DJ Daniel

DJ Daniel is a four-star JUCO cornerback from Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Georiga. He’s 6-0 180 pounds. According to the latest 247Sports Composite JUCO rankings, he ranks as the No. 12 overall prospect, the No. 3 CB and the No. 1 GA player. And according to 247Sports regular JUCO rankings, he’s No. 5 in the country.
Daniel currently holds 18 offers with the latest coming from Alabama on June 23. South Carolina was the first SEC school to offer him on May 1. Kentucky was the second SEC school to offer him on followed on May 3. Ole Miss offered May 5, Tennessee on May 9 and Florida on May 10. The Bulldogs offered on June 4. Despite the late offer, it seemed to be the only offered that mattered to Daniel.
On August sixth, he released a top three that included South Carolina, Kentucky, and Georgia. He originally planned to announce in July, he decided to hold back and think about it some more. He announced that he would make his decision on August 16.

Recruiting Progress

This spring and summer he visited all over the place.  He visited Auburn back on May 24. Daniel made his way to Athens on June 2 and then attended South Carolina Camp on June 5. He visited Kentucky next on June 9 for an unofficial visit as well. After that Daniel came back to Georgia on June 14 for an unofficial visit. He traveled to Alabama for an unofficial visit on June 23 where he picked up his offer from the Tide. Daniel traveled back to Georgia on July 28 for another unofficial visit and to see the west end zone reveal.
Daniel currently focuses the most on academics. He’s on track to graduate with his associate’s degree in December. By getting his degree, this allows him to enroll at the school of his choice in January and get straight to work. He’ll have three years to play two and wants to make an impact right away.
While doing all this stuff and trying to decide where he’ll go next he’s preparing for this upcoming season with Georgia Military College. Last season he recorded 26 tackles, five pass breakups and three interceptions. Those numbers should increase this season in my opinion.

What Daniel Brings to Georgia

He has all the measurables you want in a cornerback. Daniel’s athletic, aggressive, has long arms, mental toughness, strength, and speed. He’s a true competitor on the field when you watch his film. Daniel has great vision on the field and a good set of hands. He’s vicious and isn’t afraid to be that aggressive cornerback that you want in the SEC. According to his hudl, he runs a 4.45 forty-yard dash and I believe it. Right away on his film, you see he can keep up with any receiver he goes up against. Those long arms help with pass breakups and snagging balls over receivers. He’s got good football knowledge on the field and makes good decisions, which is something Georgia needs back there after this upcoming season.
Daniel would give the 2019 class its second defensive back. The Bulldogs already have four-star Jalen Perry committed. However, since he’s a JUCO guy, he brings experience to the table. Georgia loses Deandre Baker and JR Reed after this season so Daniel has the opportunity to come in and be a leader right away. His two seasons at Georgia Military College will give him time to learn how it is to play at the colligate level and what he has to do to compete. He would make a great addition to an already young secondary.
If he commits to Georgia today, that will give the Bulldogs 19 verbal commitment, a group that includes five 5-star prospects. Those five-stars are Nolan Smith, Jadon Haselwood, Travon Walker, Dominick Blaylock and John Emery Jr. Not to mention it would give Georgia its third JUCO prospect of the class with Jermain Johnson and Tramel Walthour being the other two.

SL’s Prediction on Daniel:

I’ve followed Daniel a good bit since the beginning of the summer and I think he ends up staying home and choosing the Bulldogs. He’s originally from Spalding High School in Griffin, Georgia. One thing head coach Kirby Smart does is keep kids home, and I think he adds another to his list with Daniel.
