Power 5 coaching staffs across the country better be booking some good vacations and setting aside plenty of family time in May because business is about to pick up in June. On-campus recruiting is going to be back and back in full force once June 1st rolls around. The Georgia coaching staff, recruiting staff, and support staff, in particular, are going to be swamped with elite-level talent matriculating into the Classic City in steady, impressive waves. Yesterday Bulldawg Illustrated covered how a quartet of 2023 Sunshine State standouts will be making unofficial visits to UGA and getting to see the new athletic facilities of the Dawgs. Now, a Peach State powerhouse linebacker has made his intentions to be on campus June 1st, and his name is CJ Allen.
6’2″ 220 pounds, according to CJ Allen’s Twitter bio, the inside linebacker from Lamar County High School in Barnesville, Georgia, is an extraordinary physical specimen. Allen has recorded a laser timed 4.56 40 yard dash and uses his speed to track down ball carriers from sideline to sideline, and upon arrival, the large framed linebacker brings the lumber. It’s easy to see why CJ Allen has received offers recently from Georgia Tech and Central Florida. Allen appears to be one of the prospects that have grown a lot and improved his game and skill set during COVID-19. Georgia’s coaching staff will no doubt be eager to see Allen in person on his official visit.
While Allen currently does not have an offer from the Dawgs, it would not be shocking to see that change once Allen can meet the staff in person. Linebackers with the size and speed of Allen, even if still developing in other aspects of the game, are not to be taken lightly and will certainly be a name to follow as developments progress for the class of 2023 as a whole.
