LEGACY DAWG TARGETS

The commitment of 2023 cornerback Marcus Washington Jr. was significant on multiple fronts. Firstly, and most importantly, Washington Jr. is immensely talented with 4.4 speed and a very athletic 6’1″ 175-pound frame. Secondly, Washington Jr. adds to the momentum that the Dawgs are currently carrying in the classes of 2022 and 2023, both of which have a number 1 ranking right now in the 247Sports team rankings. Thirdly, and finally, Marcus Washington Jr. is a Georgia legacy, the son of former Dawg linebacker Marcus Washington. His commitment could be the first of as many as 4 to the University of Georgia from Bulldog legacies in the class of 2023.

Other notable Bulldog targets that had fathers play between the hedges include Lawson Luckie, Justice Haynes, and Justin Benton. Lawson Luckie is a tight end out of Norcross, and his father is Mike Luckie, one of the Luckie triplets that played linebacker at Georgia in the ’90s. Of course, if you follow the Daily Dawg Thread, you are very familiar with Justice Haynes, a 4-Star running back and the son of the man on the receiving end of P-44 Haynes in Knoxville, Tennessee from David Greene, Verron Haynes. Justice is visiting Georgia this summer and recently came on the Recruiting Every SECond podcast to talk about his recruitment and upcoming visits. Lastly, Justin Benton is the son of former Georgia linebacker and teammate of Kirby Smart, Phillip Benton. The Dawgs have a legitimate shot with all 3 of those legacy targets in addition to the commitment from Washington Jr. The commitment of Washington Jr. may have, in fact, taken some of the edge and the pressure off of the others. However, each will go through visits before nearing a decision.

MAILBAG QUESTIONS

Last week was the first week of the Bulldawg Illustrated Weekly Mailbag. Here is the way this is going to work. I’ll have a featured comment at the bottom. Please reply to that comment and tag me in it. Also, you can send questions to the email account blayne@secrecruiting.org, or you can follow me on Twitter using @BGilmer18, and you can DM me. So plenty of options to get questions in! I’ll post an article or a video answering the questions in Thursday’s Daily Dawg Thread on here. The questions can be about recruiting, the current team, soliciting opinion from the collective BI team, or whatever is on your mind. I, and the rest of the members at Bulldawg Illustrated, will do our best to answer as many as we can each week, and those that we can’t get to that is still relevant, we will carry over to the next week. Now, send in those questions!
