[su_spacer size=”20″] Putnam County survived Oconee County’s second half rally as the War Eagles defeated the Warriors 20-14. Oconee County had a chance to win the game down by 6 but fumbled the ball at the 35 yard line with only 50 seconds left in the game.

Putnam County scored 3 TDs in the first half while shutting down Oconee’s offense, which was anemic during the first two quarters of the game.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Xzavious Davis, the junior OLB for Putnam and a class of 2017 prospect, was easily the most dominant player on the field. He had several tackles for loss, 2 pass deflections and a couple of forced fumbles. This kid is a star in the making.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Recent UGA commit and class of 2016 linebacker Jaleel Laguins physically looks the part of a blue chip prospect, but Putnam did a good job of staying away from him. He missed a couple of assignments and didn’t dominate the way I was expecting for a UGA commit. He didn’t even record a tackle until the 2nd half going up against the run dominate offense for Putnam.
[su_spacer size=”40″] It was just one game, and Laguins might just had an off game; but IMO Xzavious Davis was the best player on the field between Putnam and Oconee on Friday night. Oconee County did not have an answer for Davis. He was unstoppable.
[su_spacer size=”40″] With the win Putnam County goes to 3-1 on the year while Oconee County falls to 2-1.
