Greater Atlanta Christian class of 2017 place-kicker Brooks Buce has announced his decision to commit to UGA as a preferred walk-on after visiting Georgia on Wednesday.

Buce Tweeted out on Thursday morning that he was excited to have received an offer from the Bulldogs after his visit and several hours later followed up that Tweet with another announcing his decision to accept the PWO offer and commit to Georgia.

Buce chose to commit to Georgia as a preferred walk-on over scholarship offers from Air Force, Army, Jacksonville State, and Navy. His commitment gives Georgia 3 preferred walk-ons, 2 walk-ons and 23 scholarship players currently committed so far for 2017 with National Signing Day fast approaching next week on February 1st.

During his high school football career at GAC, he has handled both place-kicking and punting duties. Both Khol’s Kicking and Chris Sailer Kicking rate the 6 foot and 175 lbs Brooks Buce as a 4.5 star kicker.

Buce will look to compete against another preferred walk-on place-kicker, rising redshirt sophomore Rodrigo Blankenship, who took over Georgia’s kicking duties this past season after William Ham struggled early on. Blankenship connected on 14 of 18 field goals and was a perfect 26 for 26 on PATs earning him a spot as an SEC All-Freshman kicker for that performance.
