UGA Commit Spotlight: D’Marcus Hayes

D’Marcus Hayes

D’Marcus Hayes is the only UGA commit that is coming from the JUCO ranks, and I believe his experience there will lead to very early playing time.

Hayes is coming from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and his time there led to him being one of the most sought after JUCO offensive lineman in the country. Hayes has great size as he stands at 6’6″ and 320 lbs, which is just what offensive line coach Sam Pittman is looking for in his offensive tackles.

He already has some college experience and this along with the Bulldogs having to replace three of their starting offensive line, has made him a favorite by many for immediate playing time. He should be the early leader to take over the Bulldogs’ left tackle position with the departure of Tyler Catalina.

Hayes should give the Bulldogs some much-needed stability at a position that was quite shaky for the Bulldogs last season. If he is able to lock down this position for next season, then how well he performs will play a huge role in the Bulldogs’ success.

As the most likely candidate from this recruiting class to start on day one, I expect the coaching staff to put a lot of trust in Hayes by starting him at left tackle. Hayes will be one to watch as the season progresses as he should be involved in every game.
