JaxDawg  Hard to say, but the coaches are definitely pushing the players. Anyone who doesn’t buy in will probably be riding the bench. Hopefully, that isn’t the case with Rochester.

  2. JaxDawg

Just seemed like the comments from Kirby was that he hasn’t been impressed by his work ethic. I could be misinterpreting him

  3. Dawgsrulegumpsdrool2

Physically capableof playing quarterback and playing quarterback at achampionship level are two different things bob. Welcome back by the way. Missed you bud. I’m glad things are going better for you and the wife.
Yes lambert won 10 games last year, but he beat a terrible auburn team, a bad tech team, almost lost to freaking georgia southern and really should have lost the game. The fact of the matter the yes while 10 games were won, lamberts play nearly cost the team 5 or 6 losses.

  4. Bulldawg Bob2

dirtydawgs To say Lambert is not a football player after he dressed out in  red and black for 13 game for Georgia last year is a little over the top. Even if he didn’t play well, no need to throw the man under the bus.

  5. Bulldawg Bob2

Dawgsrulegumpsdrool2 While I won’t disagree that Lambert didn’t play well after the first four games, to say he cannot play QB is not correct. He can play QB. The question is whether or not he is the starter for UNC and for how many games in 2016? If he is, can he play better than he did in those final 8 games including the bowl game against Penn State last year.

  6. Bulldawg Bob2

RumRunnerDoogie Avon Barksdale  On the money Rummy. His right arm wasn’t amputated, but he lost most of the use of that arm due to the nerve damage from the injury.

  7. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 RumRunnerDoogie Hobnailboot aka RobG yea its rough to say but that was probably the best possible outcome

  8. Dawgsrulegumpsdrool2

For the debate about lambert and those saying he is getting the crap end of the stick, what does it say about qb play since Murray left that the longest pass in the last 2 years was completed by gurley? Lambert is bad. He panics under pressure, he panics when there’s no pressure. Everybody says he didn’t throw many picks. There’s a reason for that. 1) he had a lot of picks dropped. 2) he never took a chance with the ball 3) he made 1 maybe 2 reads and checked it down to the back. His pocket presence is terrible. He doesn’t trust his arm which actually isn’t terrible. He doesn’t have the IT factor. And it hi estly looked like no one on the field trusted him. He can’t play quarterback

  9. Bulldawg Bob2

RumRunnerDoogie Hobnailboot aka RobG  Yeah, but those injuries are “weird” when it comes to the nerve damage. He’s lucky to be alive, though. He could have bled to death.

  10. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 RumRunnerDoogie Hobnailboot aka RobG yea looks like it. Seems rare to only have partial paralysis

  11. Avon Barksdale

Wow very happy to see that he’s become successful as a motivational speaker! Seems like a happy ending to a sad story

  12. Bulldawg Bob2

RumRunnerDoogie Bulldawg Bob2 Hobnailboot aka RobG  Dude was a heck of a safety too.

  13. MMCSDAWG

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. But your statement about the QB being greeter then 50% of the offense is just not correct. Please explain to me how Alabama has won 2 bcs championships in 3 years worth 3 different qbs. Not one of those qbs were and all American or even all sec.

  14. Bulldawg Bob2

Avon Barksdale  Aye. From Atlanta, GA, Tucker HS if I remember. Went to Tennessee and played at safety and was headed to be a first round pick before he got injured.

  15. Avon Barksdale

I remember him! He played for Tennessee and had a bad arm injury, nerve damage I think. Didn’t realize he had lost his arm…

  16. rugbydawg79

dirtydawgs I take offense at you degrading a player on this blog –did you ever put on a red and black jersey ?

  17. dirtydawgs

Come on qb is more than 50% of a offense. But even then the guy turns a 5 second pocket in to a 2 second pocket. He can’t play qb

  18. CarlVonDawgwitz

dirtydawgs Your second to last sentence is the key to Lambert. When you have a QB that isn’t mobile, he must be willing to stand tall in the pocket (knowing he’s going to get drill one in a while). Lambert does not want to get drilled. As a result, he will check down quickly, without letting plays develop down the field.

  19. Hobnailboot aka RobG

dirtydawgs I don’t totally disagree with you except that it wasn’t only Lambert, it’s a team sport.

  20. Bulldawg Bob2

dirtydawgs  I’m ticked because my DVR died over spring and all my games from 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012 are gone 🙁

  21. dirtydawgs

Point still stands just go watch the games from last year I have them on DVR and Lambert is not a good qb

  22. RumRunnerDoogie

Hobnailboot aka RobG dirtydawgs outside of one play davis had the best game of his career, cant blame him for one play when the rest of the offense wasnt doing much while he was having a great personal game

  23. dirtydawgs

If i remember correctly David Pollack said Lambert was gonna be great preseason last year. Lambert is just awful at football and plays scared. You really can’t play qb that way

  24. 1mandawgpack

Right because in your infinite football wisdom you know more than 3 successful QBs who played at UGA.

  25. Hobnailboot aka RobG

dirtydawgs I know Reggie Davis didn’t do Lambert any favors in the game against Tennessee

  26. dirtydawgs

Lambert was pretty horrible and that’s why that offense was anemic. Not the oline, wrs or rbs. Lambert is just not a football player and if he’s playing game one then I’ll put my money on NC to win

  27. 1mandawgpack

Agree – he’s a beast and my favorite RB out of the “big 3” that we are recruiting. He’s not a Gurley or Chubb type back, but will be a solid contributor at the G.

  28. 1mandawgpack

I do and, while I don’t mean any disrespect to the other posters on here, I respect what Zeier, DJ and Greene have to say about the matter than anyone else as they’ve been in that position and can evaluate talent and results at the QB position. I’m certainly not endorsing any of the 3 players as I know with 100% certainty that the coaches will evaluate, start and play the QB who gives us the best opportunity to win. I just don’t think that Lambert is getting fair consideration based on last year’s anemic offensive performance and his stint on a really, really bad UVA team.

  29. RumRunnerDoogie

websater seems to have a LT type of ability, now im not saying hes the 2nd coming of him or anything

  30. Bulldawg Bob2

    No worries man.
Be interesting to see how the ILB competition pans out. All 4 of those guys; R. Carter, Kimbrough, Patrick and Roquan are solid.

  31. PTCDawg

Bulldawg Bob2 yeah, sorry just read down a ways and saw you put him in the 220s. if he can play full speed in the 230 range, having him and Patrick out there would be awesome. Like many i kind of assumed Carter would be the 2nd ILB but if Roquan and Kimbrough can give them a run for their money, the competition will be great for all of them.

  32. Bulldawg Bob2

If you haven’t listened to the post-practice presser from day 2 or maybe you missed it, but Coach Smart spoke about ILB Roquan Smith. Said he has gotten bigger and “plays without a governor. Plays as hard as he can play every play. Plays really fast.”

  33. RobDawg

It’s ridiculous – my son’s school has over 4,000 student body. And all 5 of the high schools in our county move up to the mega classification. The schools are too big

  34. RumRunnerDoogie

RobDawg when i played down here in FL the highest was 5a, i think its up to 8 now

  35. RobDawg

I have to give it the SEC for scheduling quality opponents to start season opener with only a couple exceptions

  36. Bulldawg Bob2

Kirby Smart should be doing a post-practice presser from day number 2 in just a little bit.

  37. Bulldawg Bob2

Frankly No kidding. Marshall, Holyfield, Woerner, Cleveland, Nauta, Kingsley, Rochester … all look like they have been in college for a couple of years.

  38. DawgByte

Bulldawg Bob2 I say make him a Middle Linebacker to inflict maximum punishment on UNC and UT’s running games!

  39. Bulldawg Bob2

RumRunnerDoogie I know right. I think it is because his name popped up so much for that 2015 recruiting class before he even was enrolled.

  40. Bulldawg Bob2

RumRunnerDoogie Allen just a RsFR though. He looked good in the drills I saw in the videos today. I would not be surprised if he vies for a start in 2017 as a RsSO.

  41. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 Bulldawg36 kind of puzzled pat allen hasnt been brought up for a possible starting role or in the rotation

  42. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 RumRunnerDoogie could be, they do have the size for that on the DL, but not much experience

  43. Bulldawg Bob2

RumRunnerDoogie If, and this is a big if with me just speculating, if Coach Tucker is going to run some version of the Tampa 2, then he needs his ILBs to be able to run side line to side line and to also drop into coverage.

My guess is the emphasis on the d-line keeping the LBs clean as well so they can shoot the gaps and make plays with that speed.

  44. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 RumRunnerDoogie yea seems the only position on D he wants smaller is LB. If thats the case i think roquan will thrive in that spot as would reggie carter

  45. Bulldawg Bob2

    RumRunnerDoogie  Found that interesting too.

Seems like from what we have heard so far is that he wants UGA bigger in the trenches and faster at linebacker and more physical in the secondary.

  46. RumRunnerDoogie

is kind of interesting that smart seems to be wanting smaller LBs which wasnt the m.o. at bama

  47. rugbydawg79

Greg Poole Bulldawg Bob2 Michael Pope It seems he is loaded with potential –already like his style

  48. Bulldawg Bob2

Hobnailboot aka RobG Bulldawg Bob2 rugbydawg79  Freshman RB Brian Herrien is sporting 35. He listed at 205 lbs, but he is probably bigger than that.

  49. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Bulldawg Bob2 Hobnailboot aka RobG rugbydawg79 whoever 35 is he looks large

  50. Bulldawg Bob2

Richmondawg DawgByte  When Coach Smart talked about Natrez Patrick and the staff wanting him to drop weight, he mentioned it was so he could be an every down player.

  51. DawgByte

Bansai buckeroo CNN is reporting he just threw an INT to Auburn’s QB, who intern threw an INT to Mauger.

  52. Bulldawg Bob2

Hobnailboot aka RobG rugbydawg79 Crowder has always worn 30 to my knowledge.

    Turman wore 35.

  53. Bulldawg Bob2

rugbydawg79 Hobnailboot aka RobG Yes. Crowder is No.30, and as far as accurate heights and weights, not really a place. Most everybody goes off the official roster and what is listed in the program guides.

  54. Greg Poole

Bulldawg Bob2 As you know, Bob, this stuff is meaningless. It is just about the coaches evening out the reps with different receivers.

  55. Richmondawg

Bulldawg Bob2 DawgByte I think that Alabama’s struggles with the has Smart wanting smaller ILB’s who can cover but still hit

  56. Bulldawg Bob2

DawgByte Bulldawg Bob2 Hobnailboot aka RobG  Yep. Georgia’s Green and Bama’s Jones were two of the best I’ve seen in the SEC

  57. rugbydawg79

Hobnailboot aka RobG Bulldawg Bob2 Crowder is #30 is that correct ?  Is there a place we can go to get accurate Ht and Wt ?   the Roster still has Eason at 211

  58. Bulldawg Bob2

DawgByte Yes. Official roster list him as 217, but he is in the 220s. Don’t know if the coaching staff wants him much bigger. They had Patrick drop down to 228.

  59. DawgByte

Bulldawg Bob2 Hobnailboot aka RobG DawgByte I’ll add to that… AJ Green is one of the best WR’s I’ve ever seen come through the SEC.

  60. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Bulldawg Bob2 Hobnailboot aka RobG DawgByte I don’t remember him dropping a single pass that hit him in the hands, I know he didn’t catch everything that came his way but if he got his vice like hands on it, it was a completion, AJ was a lot more rangy than Godwin and more athletic and is a Fantastic WR, but I feel Godwin has the more sure hands

  61. Bulldawg Bob2

Hobnailboot aka RobG Aye. Crowdere listed at 6 foot 3 and 220 lbs on the official roster.

  62. Bulldawg Bob2

Hobnailboot aka RobG Godwin does have really good hands.  But DawgByte is right. A.J. Green maybe one of the best WRs I’ve seen come through UGA in my lifetime along with Brice Hunter and Terrence Edwards.

Godwin certainly has the potential to be mentioned with that group.

  63. Hobnailboot aka RobG

DawgByte Hobnailboot aka RobG Bulldawg Bob2 When it’s all said and done I think Godwin will have him beat

  64. DawgByte

Boy when the media gets fixated on something it’s like they go into collective OCD mode. Yet another story about Jonathan Ledbetter, this time from resident AUC Einstein, Mr. Jeff Schultz. It’s like these media clowns are waiting in the bushes ready to pounce once Smart publicly declares the EXACT number of games Jonathan will miss. If Ledbetter only gets two games the media will say Kirby is running UGA like Saban runs Bama and make all kinds of comparisons to how Richt handled bad behavior. It’s easy to sniff this scenario out. I wish these media clowns would just let Jonathan be and get healthy on his own timetable and stop asking CKS the same damn question over and over again.

  65. DawgDaddy

Greg Poole Nope!  Don’t like them but I guess we will line up and play them any way.

  66. Greg Poole

Bulldawg Bob2 Michael Pope LOL – I sent him home, but he will post the clips in the morning.

  67. Bulldawg Bob2

Greg Poole  Tell Michael Pope to hoof it to the practice fields. That’s what interns are for 😉 ############

  68. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Greg Poole If that’s the worst thing that happens today then it is still a good day……..you could be wearing orange

  69. Greg Poole

Well, at the last minute they cancelled the busses and the media to carpool out to the practice fields. I declined since my truck is in the CArlton street deck and we are only getting about 15 minutes of practice. No photos tomorrow, sorry.

We are still supposed to get CKS after practice. If not, I’m gonna be unhappy.

  70. BahitsAgain

Bulldawg Bob2 yep.  Only takes a fraction of a second.  Even changing radio stations has gotten people killed.

  71. Bulldawg Bob2

converted 1981 Aye. They have 3 tough road games this year. The opener versus Southern Cal at AT&T stadium, then at Tennessee in Knoxville on Oct. 15th and of course that LSU game you mentioned in Baton Rouge on Nov. 5th.

  72. converted 1981

Greg Poole My Wife and I were at that game, much of it pouring down rain.  Loved it!

  73. 1mandawgpack

Bulldawg Bob2  He also says that USCw will win the SEC just about every year, so he lost any credibility that he might have had with me many years ago.

  74. converted 1981

    rugbydawg79 converted 1981 Bulldawg Bob2
Night game and if we lay it to ALL of our other suffragettes Before gUT then bring it on!

  75. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole Tell the young buck to get used to it, it becomes a way of life the older you get!

  76. Greg Poole

We are waiting out a weather delay for practice. However, it is not looking good. Reuse just went out side an said it is looking bad and we just got a tentative time of 5:10 to start. That means we will get out of here about 10 – if Kirby keeps his date with us.

If they have another delay, my guess is the can this pratice and make it up on a Sunday. If they actually start it they can’t stop then make it up.

  77. haws1178

Completely agree. If e are up a good bit 21 points or so. Put second string in and run the offense like we are down by 7

  78. rugbydawg79

converted 1981 Bulldawg Bob2 Would possibly still be quite warm early October for Tennessee — if we play them at night !   Woo-Hoo

  79. BahitsAgain

Bulldawg Bob2 If there is such thing as a “system RB”  Bama guys have been that.  I wonder if Henry will have much of a career.  He should be good at pounding into the line, but he isn’t a Gurley, Michael, Cubb or Marshal.

Our guys, had to be great because our OL wasn’t Bama’s OL.

  80. Bulldawg Bob2

converted 1981 Cannot disagree there. And I would be all for the Black jerseys against the Bugs.

  81. converted 1981

Bulldawg Bob2 converted 1981 IF they earn it then Awbarn or Yech.  Small chance they might have a chance by the ugly orange gUT game but not sure if enough to prove themselves by then.

Say we beat Sticky foots by 14, misery by 17 and old pizz by 3.  Do we want to risk firing up what is supposed to be the best team in the east by wearing black?  When we may Not be ready to back it up.  College football is controlled by emotion more than any other sport.  Prove yourself First baby.  Then the honors.

  82. Bulldawg Bob2

converted 1981 Agree. That is why I was thinking more for senior day or homecoming. If the team is undefeated, let ’em vote on whether or not to wear the black jerseys.

  83. converted 1981

    Bulldawg Bob2
Please, please please NOT until they EARN IT!  Make them work for it and consider it an Honor once they have proven themselves above what the Coaches expected.

  84. Bulldawg Bob2

Bulldawg36  Hard to make judgements off the first day of camp, but it was really good to see Nick Chubb practising full speed in the conditioning drills with the team. It was also good to see Sony Michel working out with Courson.

  85. Bulldawg Bob2

    MMCSDAWG Aye.

Rico Johnson was a medical DQ

Leonard Floyd is going to ply his trade in the NFL.

There were 5 JUCO players who used up their eligibility after 2014 or 2015. The JUCO players include Kennar Johnson, Chris Mayes, Shaquille Fluker, Jonathan Rumph, and Toby Johnson.

    Of the remaining 28:

Quincy Mauger is a SR who has played in 39 games and started 25 at safety. Projected starter at safety for 2016.

Brandon Kublanow is a SR who has played in 35 games and made 26 starts on the OL. Projected starter at Center for 2016.

John Atkins is a RsJR. who has played in 20 games and started 3 on the DL. Projected starter at Nose for 2016.

Reggie Davis is a SR who has played in 37 games and started 8 at WR.

Brendan Douglas is a SR who played in 36 games at TB.

Davin Bellamy is a RsJR who has played in 20 games, starting 2 at LB and looks to be a projected started at OLB for the Dawgs in 2016.

Reggie Carter is a RsJR. who has played in 21 games, starting 1 at ILB. Looks to be in the mix to vie for a starting role or at the very least 2 deep at ILB for 2016.

Reggie Wilkerson is a RsJR. who has played in 14 games at CB.

Tim Kimbrough is a SR who has played in 36 games and started 7 at ILB, and like R. Carter, he looks to be a major player at ILB for the Dawgs at 2016.

Brice Ramsey is a RsJR. who has played in 19 games at either QB or P, and he is in the thick of the QB and P competition for Georgia for 2016

Also still remaining are FB Welch, LB McGhee, OL/TE Bynum, TE Davis, LB Rankin along with LB Johnny O’Neal.

So that is 16 players remaining from the 2013 class out of the 34 signed. 10 of the 34 did transfer. Not sure what happened to D’Andre Johnson … or cannot remember I should say.

  86. Bulldawg36

Jake Rowe said Eason was off his first day. But said Chubb looked even better than in the spring!!!!!!!!!!!!

  87. godawgs678

MMCSDAWG Kennar Johnson…might be the biggest “what the ####” offer I’ve ever seen us give out. Haha

  88. Bulltoad

godawgs678 Our defensive MVP last year came from a disbanded UAB program, our starting QB was the backup at Virginia and we are counting on a transfer from Rhode Island to possibly be our starting left tackle this year.  We definitely have some depth issues.   Personally I don’t think Richt was lazy I just think he was not tough enough.  If you paid your dues he was loyal to you (Huston Mason).  If he offered you a scholarship and you accepted it then you were guaranteed to not lose it.  I believe the word Kirby used yesterday was “entitled”.  If you have “quality depth” then it will not be an issue because the man behind you is a 5 star and will take you job.  We don’t have that right now so that is Kirby’s biggest challenge.

  89. godawgs678

PTCDawg Not necessarily talking about recruiting rankings. More the fact that the depth on the OL and DL is where it is now. There is no excuse to sign 2 or 3 OL in a class. We lost out on so many good OL the past few years. And we NEVER had a chance at pulling guys from Alabama, Louisiana (Chigbu is an exception), Texas (again, Stafford is an exception), California etc. He didnt put the emphasis on busting his tail on the recruiting trail like this staff. We had one major recruiting day a year (Dawg Night). With the current staff, it seems we have a few top prospects on campus every weekend.

Speaking more out of frustration than anything.

  90. MMCSDAWG

Bulldawg Bob2 There has definitely been an attrition issue.  If what PTC states below is accurate and I believe it is…  We have lost a ton of talent to something, because right now our Jr. and SR classes are extremely thin.  Looking at our current depth chart, I see a total of 5 maybe 6 Sr’s starting for us next year, I see 6 Jr’s as well.  If our recuiting back 3 and 4 yrs ago was top 10 as believed, then where is that talent.  The class that is hurting right now is the 2013 class.  That class had 32 recruits, and like I said, only 3 possibly 4 out of that signing class are projected starters right now.   According to my count only 16 remain on the roster.  That’s the problem, you can’t build depth and experience when your 2 senior most classes have not produced.  Was it evaluation. coaching, personality, who knows, but the truth is we missed on something somewhere.

  91. Bulldawg Bob2

Know it is an hour away from Athens but been thundering and raining here for the past hour

  92. Bulldawg Bob2

That makes sense. I could see then breaking out the black for the Tenn game, homecoming or senior day.

  93. AlphaDawg

Bulldawg Bob2 As for the season opener against North Carolina in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, McGarity said game organizers had already requested that both Georgia and the Tar Heels wear their traditional home jerseys, red and light blue, respectively.

  94. AlphaDawg

McGarity said. “It will be one game a year. It’s one of our team colors. But we still think our red jersey is one of the best in college football.”

  95. Bulldawg Bob2

Some of those transfers are due to coaching changes on the staff though, but you make a good point.

  96. AlphaDawg

godawgs678 My frustration around Richt and recruiting is two things.
    1. He often lost out on a major recruit right at the last minute
    2. We had two classes that if you back and look at, a huge chunk aren’t even with the team from being dismissed or transfer.

  97. Bulldawg Bob2

Biggest criticism for recruiting at UGA under Mark Richt was lack of emphasis on o-line and to some extent d-line.
It wasn’t that he and his staff failed to bring in some talent on those units, but it was not a priority; so, there were a number of classes where Georgia only brought in 3 o-linemen. If memory serves me right, there was 1 year where UGA only signed 2 OL.
And there were some big misses on the o-line. It looked like he was finally addressing that in 2015 wih the 2016 class, but it was too little too late.

  98. BahitsAgain

Greg Poole This is a ref. to Trayvon Martin who mixed his own purple drink with Robitussin.  Apparently, there are street “purple drink” formulas that mess you up bad.

  99. BahitsAgain

Bulldawg Bob2 Be careful, Bulldawg36 might think Holy Smokes is a vaping oil and get all over you.

  100. BahitsAgain

godawgs678 I disagree.  He wasn’t as good as Kirby, but we always had a top 15 class.  If anything, we got better the last couple of years by actually filling the roster slots up.  I never could understand having the roster down in the low 70s when you are allowed 85.

Pruitt, I believe, helped a lot the previous two years.

  101. Richmondawg

Panic Fan Greg Poole we have a bunch in Virginia, especially in those newer gated golf communities around Williamsburg

  102. godawgs678

This is fueled by EC’s post below on what those around the SEC are saying about Georgia…

When I look at our depth chart, it kind of angers me. I won’t lie. I feel like Richt got extremely lazy with the recruiting the past few years. While I appreciate all the DGD’s on our roster, some of the players we offered and signed the past 2-3 years were major projects that didn’t translate to SEC football. Most noticeably on the lines of scrimmage. It was frustrating to hear about all these “Diamonds in the rough” we signed when other teams around the league were getting top notch talent and depth. The state of our depth is scary and it’s going to take at least two years to fix that issue.

  103. Bulltoad

PTCDawg Greg Poole I can see the argument.  Ganus was a UAB transfer and ended up as starter and team MVP.  Leonard Floyd started the year at inside backer when he was a top 10 NFL draft pick because he can rush the passer.  Those 2 things could definitely make you wonder especially if you are an outsider.

  104. Panic Fan

Greg Poole Panic Fan By the way of the Northeast/New England.  We call them “Halfbacks”, they can’t stand the heat of FL so they move half way back.

  105. Greg Poole

Panic Fan Yep. I had a relative who had a place near Waynesville (?). Several of her neighbors were from SOFL.

  106. Bulldawg Bob2

Buy my guess is that Saban and his OL coach would prefer not to start a freshman on the o-line.

  107. Greg Poole

Panic Fan  Yep, love Boone. And about 10k Miami residents have summer cabins in those surrounding hills.

  108. PTCDawg

Greg Poole “dont have any good linebackers”…I guess Im just not as smart as I think I am (pause for guffaw here) because i see LB as being our best position group outside of TEs.

  109. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole Does anyone else find it odd that Alabama is talking about starting another True Freshman at OT?  I know we talk a LOT about OL not being ready to start in the SEC, but Alabama has been able to find 3 in a row that can start in the SEC.  That level of recruiting is where I want Pittman and Kirby to get to, once we reach a similar level, and I truly believe we will, look out!

  110. PTCDawg

Greg Poole hahaha..yeah, like all the OTHER programs that have the 2’s and 3s like Alabama does…right!!

  111. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole As long as Eason can maintain a positive TD to turnover ratio preferably 2-3 to 1 TD to interception/turnover.    If he can manage that, we will be fine.

“On defense, Kirby isn’t walking into the same kind of talent he worked with at Alabama. Just one example: They don’t have a linebacker corps; I mean, they just simply don’t have any good linebackers. They’re player deficient right now. I think they’ll probably have some headaches early but Kirby will get it done. He’s really, really, really good, and bringing Mel Tucker with him was huge. Those guys can coach.”
“Jim Chaney is as good as anybody. They have a legitimate staff, so Georgia just needs to give those guys a little time.”

  113. Greg Poole

Athlon does anonymous quotes from SEC coaches each year. Here is one:
“I think the new staff has to count on the freshman [Jacob Eason] coming in to be the guy at quarterback because they don’t feel like they have anyone else on the roster to do what he does. I think he’s a can’t-miss prospect, but that’s a tough deal as a coach when you’ve got no choice but to put a true freshman out there. There’s going to be some inherent issues with that.”

Bulldawg Bob2 DAWGS getting after that A$$.  Seeing those guys for just 5 minutes on Greg’s video was pure dawg porn.

  115. MMCSDAWG

DawgByte Can’t wait to hear reports of Chubb in a live scrimmage. Once we have him taking hits in scrimmage situation I will feel a lot more confident in him starting against UNC.

  116. Bulldawg Bob2

Hello boys and girls. Day 2 of practice and wonder what news will be brought to our ears and eyes?

  117. DawgByte

Sounds like Kirby is going to keep UNC and us guessing regarding the starting QB. I just hope he knows in enough time that the starter gets all the snaps in preparation for the opener.

  118. DawgByte

haws1178 Florida drives are the worst. They don’t know what it means to travel 65 miles an hour. They’re lucky to hit 45.

  119. DawgByte

Bulldawg36 I’m not scared… I think we’ve upgraded. I loved Richt, but the more time and distance has made me realize we needed a change. The one thing that has me a bit squeamish is the Offensive play calling. I’m praying Chaney isn’t vanilla and predictable.

  120. Panic Fan

Red Dawn The word out of the hometown is that he has been busting his butt in the weight room!

  121. Bulldawg36

It’s crazy! When you think about it. A whole new coaching staff for the first time in 15 years. It’s. Kind of scary and exciting!!!!!

  122. DawgByte

Bulldawg36  Yes, it’s time to get Medieval on our opponents!!!! I no longer want to see us let off the gas. If there’s 45 seconds left to go in the game and we’re on the opponents 5 yard line and we’re up by 10 points, I still want to see us punch it in!!

  123. haws1178

I went through Gainesville last Friday and hated every single mile of it it sucked. Bunch of nondriving folks around there

  124. DawgByte

RumRunnerDoogie Red Dawn I was concerned about Woerner being moved to TE, because I thought he’d be more effective as a slot receiver. After seeing pictures of him, he’s clearly a TE and a large one at that.

  125. DawgByte

1mandawgpack Greg Poole DawgByte It it looks to me if Smart went to the S&C coaches and said, “Pack on some muscle and weight.”

  126. DawgByte

Greg Poole RobDawg I also thought it was interesting that Big Country got singled out for his excellent play yesterday. I would not be surprised if he doesn’t win one of the OG positions at some point during the season.

  127. Greg Poole

RobDawg  I have a photo of Hardin with Catalina in the frame (for size comparison). I think Hardin will get some PT this year, maybe Madden also. They are just more evidence that being big does not get one on the field as an offensive lineman — contrary to popular opinion.

  128. 1mandawgpack

Greg Poole DawgByte  I guess it’s always hard for a staff to know the correct mix of strength vs. conditioning.  It’s obvious from player comments and photos that the staff focused more on the former this year, while the former staff focused more on the latter given our depth issues.  I’m guessing that the current staff will attempt to use more players this year and substitute more freely based upon circumstances (e.g., down and distance, etc.), but we don’t have the depth that CKS had grown accustomed to at ‘Bama.  So I just hope that the focus on strength wasn’t completely at the expense of conditioning, particularly given that the early part of the season is played in hot conditions which will drain the players more quickly.

  129. RobDawg

The end of the footage showing the large glass sections splintering are telling. Those weren’t spring loaded toys but fairly powerful to be able to make the whole pane be affected like that. A bit more than dented ceiling tiles

  130. 1mandawgpack

converted 1981  What kind of fish is that?  Looks like a variety of bass, but I can honestly say I’ve never seen coloring and fins (i.e., rounded tail, etc.) like that on a bass.

  131. Greg Poole

DawgByte  Yeah, last year Sam Madden looked huge – yesterday, I didn’t notice him. Maybe he was not there but my point is that you are right – OL size has changed for the bigger, for sure, and hopefully better

  132. DawgByte

    Good morning all.
Boy I sure noticed a significant difference in the size of our OL. This S&C coaching staff has pumped those dudes up. They look more like a Bama line than the more recent UGA OL’s we’ve seen. These guys are huge!

  133. Bulldawg36

That made me think about that hard hit he put on that gator WR in 97. Kirby made the most of his talent in his playing days. He was always good at being in the right spot

  134. Red Dawn

From EC’s photos it looks like David Marshall bulked up enough good weight to be a true DL. Woerner, Nauta and Holyfield all look SEC ready too.

Greg Poole converted 1981 Took line out fro about 2 1/2 minutes….  was wondering IF I was going to be able to turn him.  Back swimming with the other fishes though, no time to filet this AM.

Is the open practice this Saturday? My bud asked me if I was going. Didn’t know it was already time for it. He said he heard it on the news

    A B S O L U T E L Y!!!!!!!!   Just can’t help myself…….

  140. Greg Poole

converted 1981 I get what you are saying but as I said in my post a day or two ago, this year is more about fire and fight than the record. Just be “in” every game in the 4th quarter – it’s kinda like the current recruiting success – get a shot at all of them and you’ll get way more than your share.

  141. converted 1981

Here is what I was up to this morning right before work – slipped in about 20 minutes of fishing!

    Sorry for the distraction.

  142. converted 1981

Greg Poole converted 1981 You and me both.  Anticipation is EXTREMELY HIGH – at least for me.  Possibilities are Great IF we have one or two bounces our way this year.  If not we would be in for an average year (for UGA 9 to 10 Wins)…..
What do they say about Lady Luck – 90% preparation – the other is just being in the right place at the right time.  Well I LOVE our Preparation so far lets hope we have a few players in the Right spot at the Right time.

  143. converted 1981

Greg Poole Sweet pics.  I wonder what those incoming LB’s (that are supposed to lay the wood) think when they see THOSE RB’s!  Man those guys are ripped and make some of those LB’s look more like wide outs.

  144. Colonial Dawg

Since 36 is obviously sleeping in this morning I’ll go ahead and say it…….

    GOOOOOOOOOO Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Woof!  Woof! Woof!

DawgLink Thanks – it was hectic and crowded yesterday, but all of the extraneous media that only show up for events will be gone today or tomorrow. Even Buck Belue was there yesterday.
